The 359 replica has a longer wheel base than the 356 replica - the pan is cut only 5" (not the 10-11" for the Speedster).  That gives a huge engine compartment area.  Many came with the hard tonneau (seen on the red car show one). These kits sold for $14k back in 1989-91 and only 210 (?) or so were made.  Thunder Ranch also bought a couple and finished them as prototypes.  There are 2 out there with 3.6L Porsche engines in them (Japan and NY) and one with a Mazda RX7 rotary engine.

The $895 CMC windup windows were an option for the 359 too!  Shame they didn't make removable 911 style hard top of it (great project).

Not a lot of info out there but they are rare (and many think that's a good thing).

I agree; I dig the interior colors. I like that color combo in any car.
