Gramma used to say, that everybody's entitled to their own opinion. You're certainly entitled to one as well.

... but why stop there? $50K will buy a lot of other things as well. A new Corvette. A year off work. A house in the hood. A minor surgery (and maybe even a couple of days as an inpatient). A year at an Ivy League school (as long as you live with mom and dad)

... or maybe a guy's dream car. It's not your dream, and that's cool-- but perhaps there's a guy or two who wants an elemental car that's 1/3 the price of an equivalent (and complete) steel car, one that will never rust, has better underpinnings, is completely turn-key, and uses parts that cost 1/2 the equivalent Porsche parts. Something that makes 2x the power of an original, has disc brakes all around, as looks fast just sitting there. Something he can work on himself. Something that nobody else has. Perhaps this hypothetical guy actually wants to use his car, and couldn't care less about impressing other people with a "real" car that he can't (or won't) drive. Maybe he doesn't care about investment value, because he wants to actually DRIVE his car and doesn't plan to sell it.

But that's just my opinion.
