The curves Alan took us on were no joke. I would say this cruise had a little something for everyone. We drove hills, dove valleys and scared more than one cow. We also waved to all kinds of folks out tending their lawns on a beautiful Pennsylvania afternoon.
The second picture lost a little of its charm in the editing. I believe this is Dale's car, but it might not be. I monkeyed with the color -- it could be Ed's.
The third picture is just shameless self-promotion. She was perfect for me all weekend.

Kelly's Baron's nose was more than a little dusty. In fact, he killed a bug out there somewhere, too. (The Red Baron is probably clean by now, but we got the evidence at the scene of the crime!)
Bill Drayer's car, second picture, is in what may well be the best picture I took on the entire day. I think it really does capture the reason why this run is better for me than Carlisle; it was all about driving.
The third picture is my old friend Bill Reed, sitting in the Hoopty for the first time since 2001. The last time he saw the car, it was red, and hadn't ever seen a wrench -- let alone a recip saw.
Bill had only just finished his garage, detached from his house, and I was priveleged to be the first hot-rod to take a spot in it overnight.
Bill and I caught up on the events of the last nine years over moose, elk, caribou and black bear ... and a couple of Pennsylvanian barley-pops. It was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

The MG is being driven by Dale and co-driven by Wolfgang. What a cool little car. I think we should probably do a joint club run with those guys -- they classed us up a little with their big grilles and long hoods.
The second picture is what Alan's lawn looked like when we all get together. I'm glad his neighbors are patient with us -- at least two of our cars are a little louder than they probably like.
The last shot is one of the many stops along the way -- the site of the now-famous LeMans Start photos of the previous two runs.

The red car is Dale's car again -- I really do like it.
The middle picture is this year's group shot of the cars; not the best "starting position" for a run ... but I was under a little pressure to top Teresa's picture-perfect lineups of the last two years. I don't think I was able to do that ...
And then I gave my camera to Wolfgang, who promptly shot one of the best Hoopty pictures ever! Good shootin', Tex!

I finally narrowed my favorite fifteen pictures. We had such a great time, it was difficult to cull the herd.
All of them, minus edits, are here: http://s873.photobucket.com/albums/ab294/hooptypilot/PR2010/

In order of appearance, "Wild Bill" Drayer looked the part as he wheeled along (at three miles per hour) on the gravel road leading to the scenic overlook. Bill's flared fenders channeled the dust into a pair of cyclonic vortices that followed him down the road. If that wasn't the coolest thing ever, I don't know what is.
I hope the picture soothes the frustration of having to clean out those fenderwells, Bill. That might be an all-day job. :)
Kelly Frazer, with a Z, might want a California duster before too long. This picture was taken while we were at the overlook -- before Kelly could bust out the dust rag. Kelly's girlfriend, Barbara, was along this trip, too. She's a wonderful woman, and seems to be very into Kelly, the Baron, the club and the cruises. Kelly's a lucky guy, indeed.
Bruce Stumpp has the best-appearing luggage rack on this coast, as far as I can tell. He also painted his stinger exhaust in a nice shade of primer (a crowd pleaser every time) and his new engine made that beautiful sound only a fresh engine makes. "Hotfoot" was there this weekend also, lending a little more class to the operation.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. It's a Sony Cybershot. Simple as they come; no talent required. That camera makes me look good, I think.

One more picture. We did toast Bill Webster that night at Dilly's Tavern. It was a simple hoist, a couple words, and some Mexican firewater.
The next day, at my friend's place north of Carlisle, this guy shows up on my 6AL box:

Hi, it's Kim, I just wanted to thank everyone for coming, say you're all very welcome for the thank you's, tell Cory that I will never be a PI, I'm just sneaky sometimes with a camera, tell Max one more time that this is it for the bday parties for him cause 5 parties in 1 year is enough for any one person and that as far as I'm concerned he's not getting any more and just when he was getting use to it too--isn't it just like a woman to do that to ya! Haha! and that is it was great meeting new friends and seeing old pals and here are some of my photos of the Pumkin Run where there was no running nor pumpkins!! :) whewwwww!!!

you might have to copy and paste that in a browser, you know I don't come in here ever!! ;)
I have recently found THE COOLEST PROGRAM: MS ICE, which does all manner and kind of panorama stitching. Free download, and it works flawlessly, as far as I can tell. You be the judge, although the upload to the SOC has jaggied up the image something awful. It looks very good on my machine, but pretty crappy on the SOC server. Not sure why. This one is about five shots I took panning from the top. Drag and drop the five files to the program, and presto!, it stitches 'em in about two secs.

It looks and sounds like Glenn & I missed a great time. However, we had a great time in Ocean City. Got a trophy (1st time in 13 years at OC). This has been a tradition for us for 10 years - couldn't give it up. On the way home I stuck with a 350Z (from a dead start) until he slowed down. He wasn't happy. Wouldn't look at me at the next light. I guess the carb problem is solved.

Next year let's do it (Pumpkin Run) on any date but the 8th & 9th of October. That's Ocean City again.

What is with that funny looking car going orange? Are blue seats coming next?? Somehow it reminds me of something.

On the 30th of this month the Kent Island Cruisers are having a show at Stevensville High School and Glenn will be showing my (our) car. I'll be in Myrtle Beach.

Being retired sure seems to eat up all of my time. Hate to think what it would be like if I still had to work.

Paul

Thought it was somehow apt.

Circa 1995 I found myself down front at a Supper Club, holding up a Zippers show with my slow eating habits. Didn't even realize it until all the tables around me had been removed to make room for a dance floor.

Zips were very gracious about it. And they put on a nice concert. Thought it only fair to purchase one of their newfangled music discs.
