Hope that all were pleased with the Sunnyside dinner (quality of food service pricing etc) and Ramada Inn (rooms parking etc) despite a pesty anti-social evening desk clerk......
What I would like to know is your thoughts are regarding both places (Ramada and Sunnyside) Can you suggest any improvments that are needed ?

This will help in making future choices !

Alan:

Both were fine from my point of view. The food at the Sunnyside was great (I'm sorry I couldn't stay after dinner, as I had a killer headache), and the Ramada was a typical hotel. The only thing about the Ramada was the truck traffic, but many people were able to get rooms at the back, which was as quiet as anything.

I guess some improvements can be made, but it was okay for Mary and me.

I agree with Bob. Dinner and the dining room were good. Hotel was fine - good location relative to 81, the restaurant and the fair grounds - and well-lighted. They forgot to make up our room Saturday morning but must have been some kind of glitch. BTW, we found out they have swimming pool rights with the Clarion so maybe we can plan something around that next year, especially if it's 90 degrees again.
I thought the Sunnyside service was downright incredible, considering that we all ordered from a full menu, and there were a few rooms the same size as ours (50+ people) being served.

I think there was only one table that had slow service, but even then it didn't strike me as terribly slow. My only (small) complaint is that our appetizer arrived at the same time as the main course.

I'd say it's a great location to come back to.
For those of you not there, a bunch of us congregated out front near the lobby area of the hotel Friday evening, and since there was about a dozen of us (and three+ six-packs), we were kind-of getting in the way of people checking in (OK, so we were a little noisy, too). The night clerk came out and we were asked to move, so we pushed over to one side of the lobby area, where they had a bench and small retaining wall.

About 15 minutes go by and he returns to tell us that "local fire codes don't allow that area to be blocked, so could we move to the tables out back?"

Pesky Desk Clerk Excuse expected next: "I'm sorry, but the Homeland Security act requires that I ask you to move your group from the back of the hotel, preferably onto the nearby golf course around fairway six".

BTW: He was there Sunday at noon when I checked out, and he was a nice guy (then).........gn

Ramada was good, Sunnyside did (I thought) a great job for the number of people there from all the groups. Food was WAY better there than the Lemon-Vanilla Oreos and Fig Newtons that Chris had in his truck for the road.
The Ramada was great. I liked the back parking lot and the covered picnic table for evening socializing.

Unfortunately my dinner was below average. I enjoyed Rod's better.

Doesn't really matter, I'll be back where ever we stay or eat ! !

Thank again to everyone for making my first trip to Carlisle so GREAT.....

Rod's Roadhouse Cafe'

Well it wasn't what it was in past years.....I had reserved the area up by the "well hung car" thinking that as in past years the place would be jamb packed with a crowded DJ enhanced dance floor all by 9:15 pm.
What happened to the place, I can't say and apoligize for. While waiting for our food,I think we all had a Birthday or two!
On a positive note, I have already discussed this with my social director Kim, and we will scour the town for a better venue.
