Time to mark your calendar's for the 2011 Pumpkin Run on Saturday October 15th !

With Hershey AACA Show the week prior, I sent out a number of email inquirires, most everone replied that the 15th date is best and so it is.

The Pumpkin Run, a one day motoring tour set in the hills and back country roads of South Central PA. Kim and I will furnish a light continental breakfast.

Arrival 9:30 and 10:00 AM at the Merklin Motorcraft and Casa for some gabbing and exaggerations. We'll head out on the run around 10:45 for a 3 -4 hour run through the back roads and a chance to wind it out here and there though the twisties and hills with a few short rest stops along the way.

Our destination for food and drink will be on the deck at Dilly's in Chambersburg. With a bit of luck, we'll have Heidi our Server we had last year.

From the early head count below, we'll have additional speedsters on this year's run. Kim and I are looking forward to seeing everyone! ~Alan & Kim

Confirmed:

Alan & Kim
Rocky & Linda
Max & Toni
Cory & Teresa
Bill & Joanie
Chuck & Maggie
Jim & Vicki
Kelly & Babs
Danny
Dale

Let's hear from Bruce & Norma, Syl & Maggie, Lenny, Ed, Greg B. Greg S, Barry, Fred,.....and anyone else that I may have missed.

OK, since Max decided he really would come, even if I did too, then I'll be there. Count me in.

Gordon, listen carefully here: You can DO this. Just plan for and around it. Cory has lots of room (or he should have it soon),and so do I, so there is nothing to hold you back. There would even be plenty of room for the dogs (is 3.5 acres enough potty room for your two fearsome beasts??) Hells' bells, you can probably stay at Alan's.
Believe me, I'm seriously thinking about this, and I really appreciate the offers. We came North early to attend to my brother's funeral, and then my 91 year old Mom fell and broke her hip and got an express hip replacement. We're about half way through rehab on that, and hope to get her into assisted living in a week or two with several more months of rehab ahead. All of this has been pretty stressful for us and the family and we're really looking forward to getting back home to Beaufort.

However, Timing is everything. We're in the North until after our daughter's wedding in late September and wanted to leave around October 1'st - two weeks before the Run. Right now, that's still the plan and I'm sure you all understand that we just want to go home. We'll see how we feel as we get closer to the actual departure date. We're only just now getting an odd day here and there when we're not running to the rehab facility, but things should improve for us during the next few weeks and we're trying to plan a couple of 1-2 day trips to the Cape or somewhere close.

Pencil us in as a very strong "maybe" and we'll work from there.

The good news is that Pearl is running the best I've ever seen and has a new pair of door pull handles waiting to be installed to make her sexier looking.
Hey Gordon, "pull this", as Vince would say! Sorry, couldn't resist!

Hoping the rest of your year goes smoothly, and looking forward to seeing you and Kathy. The upside is you get to see your grandson over at Chris' house! Probably have a few flashbacks of Chris......

Talked to Lenny yesterday and he said "hell yeah!" about the run. So pencil the two of us in the Casa de Merklin guestbook. No, make it in ink!
Not yet, Kelly. Teresa is renovating. I'm staying clear and working as much as possible.
The two are not unrelated.

I sent Danny the Savage PO box address. We're moving into the new house on Aug. 18th, largely because I don't want to go home to a mess. It drives me crazy to see stuff strewn all over the place, and Teresa is a start-to-finish type. I stop to clean every hour or so, but that messes with her work-flow system. Different strokes, but I'd lose my damn mind if I so much as saw the middle-stage progress.

Thankfully, the project is ahead of schedule and there's plenty of overtime to be had.
I just drove a revised Pumpkin Run route today, many twistys and a few switch-backs where I had to drop down into 1st gear.
Total is 110 miles. (This can be shortened if needed)
I took my time while driving and completed the route in just under three hours. I'm sure you will like the roads and views. I incorporated two rest stops to get rid of the morning coffee and photos ops, so that will add an hour of so. .... cu ya' soon !
