I gotta tell ya.....After we dropped off the grog at the Dr. Clock Inter-Galactic Headquarters, the GPS tells us a "fastest way" back onto I-81 South (which was really just the next exit to the south from where we got off) by taking some "back roads".

We were blasting around some of the most delightful back roads I've been on in a while, and pulling Pearl on her trailer when I look in the mirrors and behind her is a car full of local teens, getting pretty close, and one of them is leaning waaaay out the side window of their little Japanese car to get a better picture of her with his smart phone. Good thing he didn't drop it....

DOH!
Did a little mini tune up (wires, cap, rotor, NEW COIL) yesterday and an oil change. Bridget seems to be bearing up well & ready for the 100-mile run to Chambersburg. Karen and I will be on the road at 7 a.m. from Joppa. Round the beltway to 795-140 and hitting MD 97 in Westminster circa 8 a.m., then to RT 30.

If anyone is going that way at that time and wants a convoy partner, chime in.

Fingers crossed for weather like we had last weekend.

I'll bring the valve covers then, Danny. If you're up for "focking around" with them Friday night. ...

Dale, should I also bring that oil cooler, or hold off until I get the car in front of me to make the tins fit? I was going to strap it to my luggage rack, but -- thankfully -- the rack doesn't fit.

That would be a truly gruesome thing to do to the Hoopty anyway ... :)
Kelly: closer to 8 maybe? I don't want to be late to Casa de Clock. My Google Map shows 2:20 for the whole route, with the RT 97 change coming after an hour, and I think that's generous.

That means it's 1:20 from Denny's in Westminster to Dr. Clock, not counting the gas stop. 8 a.m. meetup means we get there at 9:30. 8:30 means more like 10, assuming there's no trouble.

Last year, as I recall, the whole Speedster convoy got caught behind the slowest old couple in the history of Christiandom, tooling along RT 97 and then 30 in their Lincoln Town Car, at a top speed of about 30 mph but mostly at 25 and less.

Anyone else recall that? Some numbskull in a pickup truck just about popped his cranium; laid a holeshot right past them and weaved on through at what might have been the only left turn stacking lane on the route, screaming expletives at the old folks the whole way.

So, earlier is better for me. But I will absolutely wait if you need me to. I'd rather have the company.

I'll need any additional head count ....asap.

Todd, Any changes will be posted here....
Look forward to having you along are you solo or have a right seater?

Maryland Caravan:
Better to be early than late, this allows for coffee bagels, etc. here... Since the route is a bit longer than last year's. We need to be on the road at 10:45 to be able to do the entire run and still get to Dillys 2:30ish.
It sucks but Toni and I need to skip this one. Our daughter just had a boy and we're spending time with them this weekend to celebrate the latest arrival and help them out. Looks like the trees are breaking just in time for the ride. So I'll think of you guys while I'm reading John Hallstrand's ZOEY HELPS THE MYSTERY DOG FIND A HOME to our circle of grandkids.

Max
Cory,
I can wait if you want to check it out after I drop the body - I will be having a work/party that day and you will be invited ( along w/ everyone else close by ).

Ed,
I can bring the berg dip stick if you want to check it out. Let me know

Alan - looking forward to a fast and furious ride on Saturday - hope the weather holds out.
Lois will be coming - everyone please welcome her - I want her to start joining these deals
I think I would like to come next year to this event. You will do it again, right? I have been planning a trip, one that's on my bucket list, of driving the Red Man up US route 11 which passes through Lenoir City, TN. and parallels I-81 north. I will end up in North Syracuse, New York and check out my old stomping grounds. There will definitely be a Heid's hotdog included in that trip.

Max and Toni, congratulations and thanks for plugging our book. It's available through AuthorHouse dot com. Enjoy!
Well, obviously, I can't make it but will seriously consider making next year's 5'th anniversary. This weekend I'll be part of the car show at the Port Royal, SC "Pirate-Fest" (oldest settlement on the east coast - just not the most continuous. The "natives" kept driving the colonists out! ( or eating them....))

Coffee or Bloody Marys at 9:30am, car show starting at 11am. We'll be hanging out at the Old Port Royal Cafehaus. Pictures at 11.......

It's good to finally be home.

Been hiding at the beach for a few days w/out the internet. Will see Ed (spoke to him on the phone today) in Westminster in the AM, 8:00-ish, and then on the Merklinville. Anybody else going to meet there? Gonna miss ECB, HotFoot, Max and Toni, all folks who you'd think by this time would know how to plan better. Same goes for Gordon, too.

How's the tub handle in 40 mph crosswinds?? Am about to find out. Top will be up in the AM, no doubt, but hope the day warms -- supposed to be sunny -- and we can enjoy the fall air and wide view topless.

Onward . . .
