I was wondering if you saw those A-10s I arranged especially for the Pumpkin Run. ;-)
Heard them first! Looked up at one, said, "there's another, for sure," then saw that one. Missed the wave though.
With those DU-stoked 30s in the nose, sure glad they liked us.
I see them all the time running off Edgewoodand Middle River, just North of Baltimore. Always in pairs. In fact, those are probably the guys we saw. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/175th_Wing

Alan, the only thing I would change would be adding in a little time at the first stop. I think that rest area has kind of become a "gotta do it," for the photo op. It always seems to take us juuuust a little longer than we think it will to take the pictures.
Otherwise, brilliant!

Saw the jets, wondered: WTF, over?? Missed the wing dip, that would have been cool. Guess I was too far back. Agree w/ most of Pip's assessments. There are a few who like to air it out now and then, so w/ so many, not sure how that happens. It ain't broke, so no fixing required. On the other hand, it's always nice to have variation on the theme, so other roads less travelled up in them thar hills in future attempts, or just mixing up the turns, will be cool. I suppose anybody that wants to have a several day adventure in the Fall will be more than welcome at the Mountain Madness, which I further assume will be a continuing event. Right Lane??
Absolutely. That said, plans for next year are in flux, but we know the venue will likely be different.
Alan--I believe that if the Pumpkin Run was extended such as arrival Friday late afternoon, Saturday as this past event and depart Sunday after lunch, you might possible have an even larger turnout. Alice and I might tie the Pumpkin Run in with a visit to our daughter's family in Alexandria, VA.
Jack,
That's what sorta came into play this year, the "long distance travelers" arrived here in town Friday evening and left for home on Sunday.
Some others had a two plus hour ride to get here around 9:30 AM then ran 100 plus miles on the run and another couple of hours to return home, that makes for a long day.

HAH! Love it!
OOPS my A##..... Danny boy was listening to the pipes a playing..... 8 -)
Karen and I had a great time, though the 90-mile-plus "run" did seem a little long toward the end. I think 70 would've been perfect for us. But I wouldn't skip it even if it were 200 miles.
wrt Mountain Maddness '12, my right-seater recently said that the Biltmore mansion was on her short list of things to do/see. So, as you consider how to modumlate the experience for next year, will the Biltmore stay on the agenda? Just curious. I know you have done it now twice, but as I was unable to attend any of the Fall in the Smokies runs so far, it would all be new to me. Just askin' . . .
I think most folks have the "been there, done that" feeling about the Biltmore, but if we wind up in/near Asheville, those that are interested could still go.
