Ok I have tried a little to see if I could get them to make me a tail pipe in stainless. My way....

They dont want to do it. Is the my first impression.

Im adding a picture of what I have in mind for my beetle And my D.

I want it to use a 3 chamber SS muffler with a 3 inch inlet and TWO,
2 inch outlets . With a pair of baffle tips from Jegs . I need to rotate the muffler angle the other way to give you valve adjusting clearance and to let it tip upwards at the tire end of it to also help with valve cover clearance.

When you look at it, You will see what I had in mind and iIwill also notch the D's rear apron a little like my beetles is to also help with ground clearance.

I think this is a good design for our cars that can be tweeked even more for bigger engines.

If anyone here is friends with A-1 or Serino's ( Please ask them about this. I think its worth the time.

Aside from looking correct for that era. I figured it would help lower the back pressure some

Im sure a 1=3/4 version on a T=4 would get a real benefet from it and if the back pressure is to low a litte restrictor could be added right where it goes into the muffler.

To get that correct . Sizing a restrictor for a T-4 would have to be handled by a pro like Jake Raby or Adian Pellows. They most likely have all the nessary exhaust pressue gauges to to check it on the dyno.

I could only make a guess at it and a t-4 is to expecive to make guesses on.

Type 1 s are so small the lower back pressure is not nearly as much of a issue.

But it does afect carb tuning,, even on them.

This is what I want! My next question is? How is it going to happen?
Watch your Type 1 responses, You can still build a reliable 2400cc type 1 if built right. Some of us love the type 1. As for your back pressure you only need a air/fuel gauge to check your correct jetting and back pressure. They are pretty reasonable at any car shop or online. The gauge checks the air fuel ratio in the exhaust gasses.

I ordered a Sidewinder 1 5/8" from Serrano's a couple of months ago for my 2180cc CMC. No mods to the CMC were needed to get a fit.

I need to mention though that I had previously taken the droop out of the stern by raising the end up about an inch. The Sidewinder sounds and looks good. Much better than the smallish Monza exhaust that I had been running.

Well I ordered one system today. And it will here next week. However as of tuesday morning the beetle is down.

It spun a rod bearg as i got close to work. I slowed down and just drove it on in It did not throw a rod.

But is sure sounded like it was ready to. I new it was gettting close It would rattle bad before the oil pressure got up when ever I would crank it.

The new motor is still not ready. I was told its still 2 weeks from completon.

I do intend to alter the new exhaust as I drew it. Now that the car is down I may as well get it ready for the new engine.

I intend to take off a week at work . swap the tranny an remove all the autostick crap, replace the rear apron that got crunked by some no driven Dufus at Walmart and try to do it all in one week.

Except for the engine,,, Im ready....As soon as Mr Vestal clears me some shop time. In the next few weeks. we will put it on the liFt and start doing the the rear fork mods to except the T-3 tranny

Then pull the old engine and old tranny and doll up the mods.
