All with Vintage Speedsters--this weekend I greased the front axle beam of my Vintage Speedster. I had always thought the only grease zerks on the car were the fouron the axle beam---wrong!

My car has disc breaks on the front. There is a grease zerk on each disc holder at the top and facing rearward. Mine had a rubber cover on each zerk. Mine took what I felt was a lot of grease so you who have these additional places to grease might check yours.

My beam took a L-O-T of grease too. The brackets that hold the front bumper were blocking the grease zerks and to grease the beam I had to move the supports out so the gun would fit to insert the grease. My beams were very low on grease and I'm glad I serviced them. Hope this helps someone----Jack

There are NO grease fitting on the brake calipers! It isn't 1 April (April Fool's Day) til next Monday. Not sure why they put rubber caps there since only fluid is bleed out from there. Without opening the valves (with a wrench) - you could not have injected any grease there. There are ball joints and tie rods ends that have zerk fittings - I've not seen that for years so suspect it was just the original German ones.
Technology can be impressive, but do I really want to own a new car that has moving parts INSIDE the muffler . . . . hmmmm?

Most of my previous experience with moving parts inside my muffler were followed shortly by all, or at least a large part, of the muffler departing the vehicle, frequently taking some attached tubing. This activity is shortly followed some serious distress to the driver following me too closely. You see what I'm getting at here?

Every time I've had one of these fail or wear out and start to rattle or whine, I've had to resort to rebuilding the little buggers on my own, and it's getting harder and harder to find the larger balls to fit the newly machined races.

Now, I can rely on someone else to do it.

Praise the Lord, and pass the muffler bearings......
