The Hot vw milage motor reported temps on the heads at 60 mph of 255 with 137 jets 275 with 142 jets.

Concidering the compresson for my verson and a compresson range from 8.1to 1 to 8.3to1 would yo go for the higher compresson or the lower compression what would you round it off to .

I know this is not much of a difference and its very nitpicky but Humour me.

If im going to the trouble to check the cc on the finished heads and hand sand an polish them to within 1/4 cc per clyinder what would you shoot for hotter or cooler??

I've read 375 F is on the normal range; please someone clarify this since I'm not sure. With respect to compression ratio in the 8's to 1 would be the most I'd go in a Speedster replica; engines in these cars need all the cooling help they can get as opposed to other applications.
My speedster has 2 black nylon rear fender liners that work like air rams to scoop up air and direct it to the air intake behind the engine it helps a bunch.. and is all hiden..

The only thing I know that would be better would be to duplicate the air intake slots like a beetle has across the back just between the lid and the rag top.. But then it wouldn't be as correct looking.

8.25 to 1 or slighty higher seems to be a decent range I don't want it as high as 8.5 to 1 ..

But I was hoping for more input from here. that might help comfirm some of my reseach.

If I want to go hotter I need to cut back on the chambers to a even 57cc.and just use one shim of apropriate thickness to dial it in.
