There is a race engine builder just 1/4 mile away, Darrel Poe, but he is a V 8 man, and he has a dyno I will see If is stuff is compadable if not I will check with Mr Vestal He has at least a decent shop and test run stand, But it would be better up on a Dyno than in a car. I will see what I can do when the time comes .
My little shop is a poor place to tear down a engine from. It was tough building the first tranny.
I suspect Conway though he would rather sell me a T-1. Would be glad to help let us use his bug shop I,ll have to find a flywheel and bolts eather way There is a nother Dyno close by and its portable but Im not sure if I want to call in the favor.he's pickyer than me and that's picky.
I will see what I can get done in the next few months including getting the block and heads checked and opened to 101 bores. I also intend to astablish enough funds to pay you.
I dont have any idea what cam is in the engine I dont have any spec's on it.
If that is a trade secret, then we will have figure out a way that I can still get the correct cam(only)but no spec's,
I think I have enough funds to get that out of the way now. I intend to use ceramic lifters. If you can just call Web and tell thim which one to ship to me (minis spec's) I will order it first of the week.

Ok.
I'm confused.
So now, whats your intention, doing it yourself???
I can see that you are the kind of guy that likes to be done your way, and the only way to do that, and not blame someone else when its not 100% perfect. IS to do it yourself.
My parts store will be up in February. I'll sell you the cam, and othe rparts then. You can have the case opened for a 103mm bore (not 101, Nickies are made to drop in a stad 103mm register.
I'll help you choose what you need when the time comes.

NOW Im cunfused. I must have misread your message. But the answer is YES and NO.
Yes!,, I allways have tried to do and learn as much as I can, and I have had real good luck with T-1s But I've only done 5. (teach a man to fish.)
I have never touched a twin carb engine, or T-4 untill now.
Im sure I could do a decent job. or at least as good as you did blindfolded. but the pricy parts DO make me nervious .
NO!,, I try not to hold people accountable for their mistakes. I make umistakes to. (People in glass houses) yelp thats me.
I figured you wanted me to send the heads back to Headflow masters and the block back to Rimco to be checked and prepped and opened then gather up all the parts for the build ,and try to cover as many possable problems including extra carbs and distributor. Then let you have at it. But if you had a different plain, spill the beans.
What do you wish me to do, Sir? If that anwser is Just go away ? that I can do also. I,ll check your site from time, to time, to see what your product line looks like.

If you want, I can do the work, but leave it ALL up to me... Thats what you are paying for, and it makes my life easier.
Deffinatley!!!!
I was crunching the compression numbers on upping it to a 2243cc the CC'd of the heads will have to change drasticley to keep the compression at 8.4 low enough for 87 octaine which is fine by me. I'd even sacrafice a few more ponys if you could go lower still.
Pump gas is never gonna improve!!!!
BUT then comes the effect on the torque?? How bad?? This it were I would mess it up for sure. finding a good balance in chamber volume.
You can only get just so much at the head. then you eather having to shim cylinders ,a real NO NO. or having the cylinders custom made longer? I don't even know if Charles could do that.
Bottom Line , SAVE SAVE SAVE. you wont get a arguement here.

Static CR is only good for engines that never run! BUT it is used to figure dynamic CR. I have built engines with 9.5:1 CR, and after the calculations the CR was 7.1:1 dynamically.
There is more to it than static CR....

Thanks Jake,
I have bothered you enough this week .
I think it best to leave you to your present customers. I'll get back In touch with you when tthe fund reaches $5000

Probably won't cost that much! Unless you go with the Nickies! Make sure to preserve it well while its sitting!
That still leaves me with a much a bigger problem of getting a cheep fill in engine to use until then. I need to get this cars body and top finished clear coated and buffed, before any harm comes to the interior.
Like yesterday,
Heck even a used 1500 T-1 will do, as long as it runs good enough to make the car derivable for short while. Plus I don,t have to worry as much if someone else gets the itch to drive it without my permission.
I have a friend in the bodyshop business tell me a story about a RollsRoyce and some damage from a bodyshop joyride ,that one of his competitor's did. It got very UGLY.
In the end I will need 3 T-4 engines total.
One for the D, One for the Veep Dune buggy and a fallback engine in storage with the relieve valves pulled to prevent sticking and the case sealed and full of oil. All 3 must be Identicial.
That was and is my goal. To get both cars finished and have enough spare parts to maintain them

I have a good running 1800 T4 and a good running 2liter T4....both are longblocks. I'll take 800.00 for the 1800, it was a great running core that I took from a local 914 that we scrapped due to rust.
That is just what I need. SOLD!!!
As money will allow I can afford to upgrage it later to make all three engines the same.
I just finished putting the other one back in and did the carb switch . I still got problems same, same, same. I had a couple pop backs under a throttle pull THAT'S A VALVE SEAT! I quicky pulled the coil lead. Im done,no more. The exhaust is hereby scrapped.
Now all I need is a cheep used header, and a recemendation on Idf 44 monifacations that will not wash it out.
OR
If I send you my engine could you swap out the stuff and make it work sometime next year. penceling me in where your schedule will allow. or using it as a fill in job.
But only If your schedule will allow!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can play watch dog on the mice and squirrels for a while longer. The neigbor clearcut the woods right behind the house this summer (over 70 ac.) we have been over run.
Im just wasting time with this thing. Plus that would be a 90 hp engine. The equivelent of a super 90 356 engine. It would not be to shabby in a 1,500lb car
My Veep is even lighter 1,200lbs. but so boxy it can't cut the wind good. It really needs a 2.0

okay, well get with me soon, really soon! If not she hits ebay! This way you can take your time on the 2056 and make it better, like a 2270, or 2563.....
Well I,ll have to let it slide. Im guessing your trying to buy up for Christmas just like I am and I understand . Its a bad time. Back to Mr Vestal to see what he can do or Check in with Richard Jewel in Burlinton NC. there are about 6 contacts,I can try .But it will have to wait until late January.
You tried and I thank you

As a final note I went back and ordered the 36 venturi's chokes, 135 lower jets, and 200 correction jets.
When and if I do get this thing back together that much should be correct.
Do I need to change the upper venturi's to a smaller size presently 4.5. the next size down,I think is a 4.0.
Also the lower main seats that stick through into the bores were all different I matched them up as someone suggested to 0.100 thousands, but it didn't help.
So that will be. Heads, cam, all bearings, gaskets and seals and a set of rings. and if I can a set of nickies.
The jury is out on the Nickies
