Back before I got my VS water tight I had the same problem everyone else did (except maybe lucky IM owners) and that was a musty smell from sitting in a garage over the winter. I found a product that does wonders and I never have a musty odor in my car anymore---it's always fresh and dry.

The product is named "DampRid" ---some white granules in a quart-sized plastic container that soaks up any moisture for 45 days and at about $4.00 per container it's quite a bargain.

I got mine off the internet after googling it and I heard that WalMart also sells it. This might be the only non-Chinese product sold in WallyWorld.

---I hope this helps those of you who have a need for some way to keep that car interior dry and fresh..

Yep; been using that for a few years; as you know being away from my car for a few months at a time and storing it in tropical and humid Puerto Rico is a challenge. It works great but be careful when disposing of the resulting liquid because it is a mess if it falls on your carpet or anyplace else....
Well Eric my friend, I appreciate your concern but it's misplaced because I do actually have a year round driver now. I guess I was referring to the old days that were:

Pre-wateroof
pre-airtight
Pre-leaking windshield
Pre-rubber door moldings
Pre-Type IV engine
Pre-Espar gas heater

The suggestion for the product I recommended was because generally the air is more humid in the winter. Since there are no events like Carlisle until spring there won't be long drives but you can be sure I'll be out there enjoying the Speedster!
