We're a long ways out from Carlisle to be setting up specific Northeast Caravan stuff, but I'll be sending out a few emails in March-April inviting folks to go along, like the Maine-iacs, Those in Cow-Hampshire (Suziestew - you listening?), the folks in Mass. (already got the Gallos) and the Nutmeggers (already got Carl Berry, now maybe we can get Lenny C. to join us).

I do not take the I-95 coastal route. I take I84 West to I-81 South and avoid all the NY/NJ and Bridge traffic, no to mention staying away from I-78. Besides, with the traffic at the GW bridge, my route is usually less time.

So all You'se Northeast folks, sit tight, plan on going to Carlisle and I'll be stirring things up as we get closer. If we get enough people interested we can then plan out departure and waypoint times and maybe coordinate those coming from halfway to the Canadian Maritimes with lodging along the way if necessary.

Email me if you don't already have my mobile number and I'll also put together a "Northeast Caravan" email list for us to plot on.

Al and Heidi - you could always stay with us in Grafton if Westfield looks like a PITA. I'm jus' sayin'...... ;>)

So far, our group is:

Me and Kathy
Maybe Chris
Al and Heidi Gallo
Carl Berry and ??
Well, Lenny and I always travel together. So Gordon, Al, and Carl, of the northeast caravan: we will be going on Thursday at some point, planning for an early afternoon Carlisle arrival. Let me know when you guys will be in the vicinity of NY exit 5 on I-84. We can pick you up there. At that exit , a T of A for diesel, and a Hess, Exxon/Mobil, and I think a Getty, IIRC. At that point, it is about 225 miles to Carlisle. Depending on forecast, I will be driving or dragging the Spyder. Lenny will be dragging his.....
The Northeast Caravan is now up to four:

Me, Kathy and Pearl
Al and Heidi Gallo
Carl Berry
Peter Venuti

Meeting Peter somewhere along the Mass Pike around 7:30am, the Gallos in West Hartford, CT, around 9am, and meeting Carl Berry near Danbury just off exit 8 on I-84 around 11am. These times will firm up as we get closer and I get some GPS waypoint ETAs on them.

We may have to do something better for lunch than "Subway" - I'm jus' sayin....

Who else would like to come along?
David, The No Name Pub is on Big Pine Key. Take a right at the light,(the only light on the key) go about 3 miles and take another right and follow your nose for about another 1 or 2 miles toward No Name Key.(watch out for the tiny deer, about the size of a large dog)
Also, they are very serious about the speed limit on Big Pine. 30 mph and radar everywhere
One of the best pizzas you'll ever have and other stuff as well. Great place for lunch. Walk out on the bridge and check out the huge tarpon below. Mangrove Mamma's will be on your right on Summerland Key ( I think). Good food and outdoor entertainment at night. If you can get there early get a table in the garden area for dinner and you can stay right there when the band sets up.
Rick's Bar on Duval St. on Key West has 4 stools outside a walk-up window. Excellent place to "people watch" with a beer. There is a "circus" on Mallory Dock every night for the sunset till dark.
We spent 7 winters on the Keys and there is always something to do. The water will be warm (to northerners)and the snorkeling is great.
Check out the huge World Wide Sportsman on Islamorada . Ernest Hemingway's boat Pilar is in the middle of the place and the restaurant out back is right on the docks. Have fun, I wish we were going with you. See you in Carlisle with your No Name T-shirt.
