I`m getting a 1/4 tonneau cover installed. My car never had one. The 2 straps that come on it, do they support the header bow? or are they used to hold the side curtains?

There should be two snaps on the “wall” of the package shelf area. The two straps extend from the tonneau cover and snap to the rear wall and sort of keep the top from bouncing around.

My car never had a 1/4 tonneau. I just wanted to let my upholster know where to put them on the wall.
The 1/4 tonneau I made doesn't have those straps. I use two velcro straps I think I got from Harbor Freight to wrap around the folded top.
FWIW - I have both the 1/4 tonneau and full tonneau. I use my car as a daily driver (SoCal) and RARELY use the 1/4 tonneau. I have the full tonneau on so that I can cover the interior when I leave the car parked unattended. 2 reasons; it covers the interior and its contend from public view. It keeps my seats & steering wheel from getting too hot from sitting in the sun.
Here is the method I use to fold the top when not in use and full tonneau.
The following procedure prevents creases, warping and scratches in the clear plastic window.
The following procedure prevents wrinkling and tearing of top. Allows a smoother appearance (not deeply wrinkled) when top is up.
100,000 miles on previous VS and 43,000 miles on current VS, top and rear window still look as new.
