I've got to make a decision on exhaust system for a 2054cc type1

The A1 merged header/sidewinder is $$beyond my pocketbook, but Kaddie Shack in Pasadena has what appears to be an A1  clone (AA158) for a whole lot less money. My concern (question) is will the muffler obstruct access to cyl 1&2 rocker arm once the valve cover is off? The ordering counter clerk at Kaddie shack couldn't give me an unequivocal answer "maybe...maybe not"...duh! I certainly don't want to have to remove the muffler to tweak valve adjustment...So I'm looking for experienced advice

I installed an Empi 1 3/8 premium ceramic extractor and a Phat Boy stainless steel muffler when I built my engine to 1914 cc four years ago. There is plenty of room to get the valve cover off and have direct access for valve adj. Spend the extra bucks for the ceramic  coating and ss because it won't rust and you don't have to sand and paint it every year-nothing as ugly as a rusty exhaust system hanging down. After 14,000 miles and some occasional metal polish it looks new. The only drawback is that I only have about 4 1/2 to 5 inches ground clearance at the muffler  but  haven't pulled it off yet-have scraped the bottom a few times. To get maximum ground clearance I installed the tallest tires I could find-Veredstein Sprint Classics and raised the rear adj that Vintage provides-the car still sits level.

i have the A1 sidewinder 1 5/8" on my T4 2056.  it's a nice unit - but definitely pricey  you know the one you posted is a Chinese copy, eh?  good price, but as i get older, i have stronger feeling for quality and principal.  i can barely stomach those EMPI ads in HotVWs that say 'insist on genuine empi' with a picture of the IDF copy carbs.  i agree with Bill - wait to get a quality unit.

I regret that I have but one "like" to give for this comment.

A genuine A1 Sidewinder is a couple hundred bucks more than the Chinese knock-off. You get more for a couple hundred bucks, but even if you didn't-- Tiger invented the concept, and somebody in Asia copied it.

If more people insisted on getting stuff that worked and was fairly priced (as opposed to being 100% price-driven), this hobby would be in WAY better shape.

I'm not anti-Asian-- the Vintage Speed link Glenn put up is a good example. I'd consider that if I were looking for an exhaust for a sub-2L engine, because he designed his own thing and marketed it as such. I love the Vintage Speed shifter, but it's the same deal-- he designed his own, and didn't just rip off somebody else's deal.
