12V Horn for accuracy in tone......

Hi guys; I would like to know if there's a Hella or Bosch 12V replacement horn that gives out the tone of the originals on 356's. Are the originals single tone such as in Bugs or duals such as in Ferraris, etc.? Thanks to all.

Go to a local salvage yard that has "big truck" parts and purchase dual air horns ..I have a friend that has this set up on replica MGTD.....

I have to tell you it is awsume when he "toots his own horn!"

Mike: Take a cruise on either of the Disney Cruise Line ships.

When a cruise ship leaves a port, they give a few blasts on their fog horns......most are pretty impressive.

Then there are the Disney ships.......THEIR fog horns play "When you wish upon a Star". Wicked loud and WAY cool in comparison.........

Ricardo: Closest you'll probably find these days is a standard Porsche horn pair (Hi - Lo). Try Tweeks....P/N 403-349 (hi) and 403-351 (Lo) Both Hella, Both $21.99 each

Of course, if you want to be HEARD, then get something LOUD, like a pair of Alpina horns (wear ear muffs when in use).

Try a set of Hella air horns, there is a set on ebay right now although I am not sure that is the best price: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33704&item=2462880687 . Not "original" but can be heard very well. I heard Bill Drayer's last October and had to get a set, I'm installing them right now.

Tweeks used to have the hella air horns for $39.95.

If yopu buy horns on eBay ask the seller if they have been tested. If they say "Non" it usually means they don't work... I have some pending yard art to assemble this spring, based on Hella horns and such purchased on eBay.

I have a good Hella two-tone horn that lights up on the steering wheel, sort of normal, and then I have air horns with a button further down on the steeringf column for when I am about to announce the single digit salute

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm still looking, also found another one in England for about the same price. The "expensive" ones run about $140-$239....just a bit more than I want to spend although I haven't seen photos of them yet.

Bruce: Moss carries those used on Morgan's and older "Works" Healey's, so they should look decent - may have a picture on the site, or they're on page 10 of their latest catalog. Description is:

"Accurate reproduction of the works type straps fitted to race and rally cars".
