I don't know if anyone's using this size, but just saw this on Tirerack. Dunlop makes the SP Sport 01 (classed as an ultra high performance summer tire) in this size- 24" tall, fits a 5-6" rim, H rated (good to 130mph) and I'm guessing fairly sticky, as the UTQG figures are 280 for treadwear, AA for traction and A for temperature. Too bad that's the only 15" tire they make.

Well, technically, it's not the only Dunlop in that size that Tire Rack carries.

I ended up with these on my car because I wanted something narrower than a 185 and Kirk's tire guy couldn't find the Conti ProContacts that I really wanted.

It's not a performance tire - it's actually one of those 'low rolling resistance' tires made to boost the fuel economy of hybrid cars, but I wanted to avoid a three-week delay in getting my new VS, so decided to give them a try.

They're not too bad. The grip seems OK, and they break away in a nice, gradual, controlled way, which I think is a good thing in a swing axle car.

The Conti's would probably be a better choice in this size. I've got them on my MINI Cooper and they really stick (they were - and may still be - OEM tires on MINI's).

15s are getting pretty thin out there as well.

After a pretty lengthy search, I could find only one 196/60R15 true summer tire available in America. I just got a set of Vredistein Sportrac 4s through a place in the north Chicago suburbs (nearly Wisconsin)-- "Waukegan Tire". They drop shipped 4 to my door from the distributor in NJ. I gt the last 4 in the country.

The European (well, UK actually-- I can't read German, French, Italian, or Spanish) forums like them all a lot. We'll see... but not until next spring.
