Hafthor,
That's Michael Ballard's car. Or it was, as he had it for sale earlier in the year.
He did a hell of a lot of fabrication on that car to get the wheels to work. It required shortening the axles quite a bit.
That speedster sports a fuel injected, turbocharged, Pat Downs engine as well.
Look for his photos under michaelballard.

Hi Hafthor. I read the posts all over in this site and saw some pics of the standard body with big wheels squeezed underneath and decided that I would also fit the big wheels. I measured and re-measured and decided that a 18" x 7.5" rim with an offset of 35mm would work. At the same time I changed from drums all round to disks both front and back. I used a standard conversion for the rear brakes using a golf mk 2 rear caliper and a golf mk1 front disk, I calculated that i would need to fit a 20mm spacer between the rims and the hubs. This is where the best made plans come apart! with all my measuring the wheels were to big! by exactly 20mm! well I felt quite stupid at this point as I had spent about US$150 on having custom spacers manufactured. These are now lying on my bench! without the spacers I have about 4mm clearance on the one side and about 7mm on the other! I was as happy as a pig in sh1t!! Onto the the fronts here I use some 305mm ventilated disk of a 7 series BMW, we had the hats machined out and turned up a custom set of aly hats / spacers for the fronts. I have fitted nice 4 pot calipers (bright red) from a porsche (could be 964 but not 100% certain) With this set up the front wheels rubbed a bit on the fenders at full lock. As the car was slammed to the floor I raised it up about 20mm and now it hardly ever touches. By the way the ryres I have fitted are 225/40-18.

The only thing I am not happy with is that with the 18" wheels the golf disks on the rears look way too small in the huge rims!!!!!!

By all accounts these wheels should not have fitted to my car, I have made no changes to the suspension. I did remove an angled bracket from the steel frame up to the hardpoint for the seatbelt mounting. I can't tell you what length axles are on the car. I am trying to upload a picture see the next posting
