1955 356 Speedster #80707, less than 6,000 miles since complete restoration. Needs nothing but to be driven. It has been kept in a climate controlled garage since it's restoration. Later engine with rare Mahle big bore Ps&Cs, Solex carbs, MSD ignition. Runs very strong. Quad shock rear suspension. All original gauges, lights, and switchgear. With the exception of the early style shifter you would not know you are driving such an early car, it is comfortable to drive even in traffic. Very responsive and smooth, well sorted. Leather interior done by the late Doug McCombs with German square weave carpet. Reproduction tool kit with custom made leather tool roll. Accessory fuel gauge mounted under dash on flip down mount which folds out of sight when not in use. The original engine case is included, the trans is not matching. Available for inspection with lift access by appointment in Northern Virginia. $300000. Reasonable offers considered.

T44E6 - Just wanted to make sure that you're aware this site is focused on replica Speedsters.  Many of the folks here have owned real 356s in the past, but for reasons of budget, reduced worry, or whatever are now into reproductions.  This is probably not the best forum on which to sell your car but we like hearing about it anyway.  A beauty is a beauty, even if it is out of reach for most of us.

I feel nice. I have a car that I can drive...this guy is trying to sell an automobile.

And.. I now do 60 mph ( gps verified) at 2,800 mph in fourth with my new Frankenmotor and Geno's rebuilt tranny with the 3.44 r & P. I'm averaging 10,00 miles per year. It's been a hoot. Five engines in five years.

Lobsta in Wells, Me. in late August and a large trip planned for 2017. Either a left hand long loop around the USA or just down East thru NFLD. We'll see how the wind blows.

Not a bad place to advertise this either. There are a couple owners of original speedsters, who also own replicas to drive regularly.

Well if most are like me... Winning the lottery would have to happen first!

Let's look at that scenario for just a moment:

With family members all taken care of and comfy I would turn my attention to acquiring a modest home with an adequate garage for doing a little machining as well as holding a few cars. A very nice back yard capable of driving a few cars back there next to an area that contains a nice sound system, wet bar, big screen, tool caddy, you know... all the right stuff.

This house would be in an old colonial style with beautiful bay windows on a hillside with wide open views of the ocean. Well appointed furnishings that the Queen of England would rightly approve of. This home would be capable of allowing no less than 20 SOC members sleepover access. The sleepover access would be located in a bunkhouse not attached to the main house of course!

Am I asking for too much?

Rusty, thanks for sharing your dreams. When they are realized I will be pleased to attend the first SOC sleepover.

I don't assume anything about SOCer's financial circumstances. I don't care. I would imagine that the net worth's of our members cut across the spectrum from low, well into the millions. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge and affinity for the cars.

I don't think Porsche ownership is necessarily a sign of wealth. I grew up in SoCal and knew at least one guy who had a new 911 and lived in it most of the time.

It is more about priorities and values I suppose.

Now, somebody buy the guy's car.

2800 MPH is one fast car! If only you had a 5 speed...
