I don't know what he uses for a gas tank - it's a real nice addition since I get at least 150 miles per tank; did not photograph it without carpets - clean black paint, like new underneath

Do you know about VW's to tell if it's a VW tank or custom fabricated?

it's a 2332 with 2 - 44mm Webers pouring gas into the cylinders

"Pouring gas into the cylinders" is right. That's running very, very rich, as are a lot of ACVWs out there.

It's got nothing to do with the size of the engine, or the carbs. Out of the box, Webers are set-up pig-rich-- if the buyer would tune with a wide-band lamba meter (A/F gauge), I guarantee he will raise that by 10 mpg. I got 30 mpg on the highway out of a 200 hp 2332 with 48 Dellortos. With the tri-jets it didn't do as well, but I still got 25 mpg.

It's all in the tune.

When CB Performance (Claude's Buggies back in the '70's and '80's) started importing the dual carb kits for VW's they were intentionally set up rich so they wouldn't destroy peoples' new engines. Even today, if you buy a new set of carbs that are set up for "your engine", whoever jetted them will err on the side of caution. Better to be a little rich than too lean. Al

Tom,  When you say noticeable difference are you talking about  the difference between your's and a 1600 stock engine, or your 2054 CB and this car's engine?  Thanks for your comments.

All of the manufacturers use turnkey engines from several manufacturers. CB & Raby are generally considered the two best.  This is, generally, about as big as folks go.  I have 2054 CB that I love.  It's supposed to be 140 hp.  It's a stroked 1915 so it has a little more torque.  The difference is noticeable.

Different animals.  JPS' are based off of a shortened VW pan.  Beck's are based off of a custom tube frame.  That design element + proximity to builder + builder reputation drove me towards Beck.  Very happy with that decision.

Are all the Beck cars swingaxle, or are there irs cars as well? I'm under the impression that their frame does not lend itself to irs conversion? Al
