My brother in law just bought this car. It's a 1957 and everything on the car is original except the paint. Engine was rebuilt by a Porsche mechanic as well as the transaxle

Hope he doesn't get upset when asked if its one of "those kit cars"! Gorgeous car - like the towel rack bumpers and red interior.
WOW!!! Very cool Larry!!!
Beautiful car!
Something tells me you'll be seeing more of your brother-in-law. What a lucky guy he is to be related to you
SWEEEEEEEET
So fine . . . makes all our replica Speedies look pretty damn cool, if you ask me. I hope he gets to put some smile-miles on this puppy. Be a shame to just hide it in the garage.

I doubt he'd get upset. Instead of saying, with a sad face, "Alas it is a poor, pathetic example of the real thing", he can say, "Replica, I wouldn't drive that $hit. This baby's real!".
I'm wondering if the former owner of this car was Paul Lang? His car had the Reutter
badge on the driver's side also. Jerry Aistrup
Jerry, does Paul Lang live in San Diego?
Paul lived in the San Jose area. It's been awhile since I saw him, so I wondered if he had passed on and the family sold the car... Jerry
I asked my brother in law, Paul was the 2nd owner of the car and did a total restoration while he owned it. Supposidly he totally dismantled the car and refurbished everything back to "1957 New"
He sold the car to another person who lives in San Diego in 2013.
My brother in law bought the car from the guy in San Diego making him the 4th owner.
Apparently Paul was quite the guy. He was a VW mechanic in Germany in 1947 and later he trained and worked at the Porsche factory. When the VW dealership opened in San Jose he moved to the US and worked at the dealership as head of service and eventually became co-owner. His son works for Porsche and deals with the Certificates of Authenticity. Paul's health is apparently in very poor shape.
Thanks for the information Larry. I got to know Paul and his wife when I had my '58
Speedster and was living in the Bay area in the mid 90s. There were great 356 meets
up there and I met many fine people. A sad note- his son died from an accident in Germany a few years ago. Jerry
