I have no affiliation with this car or the owner, I just thought it was unique as it was built according to the owner by IM in 1978.

Nice-is that a Gene Berg linkage?
Yup, definitely a Berg linkage.
What's up with that tach?
Probably oriented (by whom?) so that the redline is at the top.

If you've ever done any type of racing you generally never use the speedo but you watch the tach constantly, along with listening to the engine. That is why many guys either mark or rotate the tach up to 12 o'clock at redline it is easier to see at a glance how far you are wrapping your engine. When you are running flat out between gear changes it is very easy to over wrap the engine...bad and expensive things can/do happen when that happens.
My Smith's tach in the Cobra is marked with a 'yellow caution line' at 7200rpm and a red line at the engines rpm limit of 8,000rpm. The tach is rotated with the 7200rpm 'caution line' at the 12 o'clock position where it is very easy to see at a glance. The '55 Chev's tach(Moon Eyes) has a marker pin built into the tach that is irridescent red and is very easy to see, it is adjustable to any rpm. The tach is rotated in the cup mount to put the 6800rpm caution line(redline for this engine is 7200rpm) for the engine at the 12 o'clock position using the built-in marker, again easy to see at a glance.
It's a very nice looking car. Love those fog lights.
never raced, now I understand and it makes sense.
The tach also seems to be larger than normal, at least as I see it.
Looks like a 550 Spyder report gauge set - the Tach was mounted in the middle and bigger on them (as it should be!)

Looks like redline is about 5500. And I like the idea of the tach being bigger; too bad they didn't do Speedsters like that!
