1979 IM for Sale in Florida

I saw this and thought someone here may be interested
They're asking 22,500 in Florida

Built in 1979? It qualifies for an antique Florida license plate. An antique replica of an antique car, go figure.

Says its a Cabriolet but I don't see window winder (or electric buttons) plus has the tell tale side curtain holes in top of doors.

It's obvious that somebody does not know WTF they are talking about.

I owned and "restored", in 1989 and 1990, 2 very early Intermeccanica Speedsters, both were I believe pre 1980, and they both had conventional 356 grills, not the Habachi grill...

Maybe I am very wrong, but I have always associated the Habachi grills with CMC, not Intermeccanica

Not interested in debating. Be glad to have an off-line conversation about this. Just need to clarify a point or two. This looks like a nice car and a good deal for someone.

A hibachi is not unexpected on a 79 IM - so don't think it's a deal breaker or falsely advertised. Also, expect the door latch to be high - same spot as on a CMC, not at the mid mid-point of the door like later IM's. It would be unfair to discredit the seller for points such as these when they factually may belong to a 79 IM.

The early IM design was sold to CMC after Henry's dad and his partner parted ways in California. The partner sold it to CMC.

Later IM moved from California to Vancouver and resumed making Speedsters.

I think the grille changed between California and Vancouver.
