I'm selling my 1979 Intermeccanica Speedster, $12,500. 1776 VW, new Kadron carbs, new distributor with vacuum advance, newly overhauled 901 5 spd., four-wheel discs, new tires.
Odo says 22,000 but it stopped last summer. Interior is totally original -- seats have some patched spots, carpet is old. Top, tonneau and small tonneau, plus side curtains. New tuck-away exhaust. Runs very well. E-mail tom at tomstrongman.com. Car is in Kansas City.

Ya, it does has roll up windows and more comfy seats. A bigger factor for me is the height of the windshield/top (when raised) as I'm 6'2".

In a speedster the windshield splits my vision with the top down and I have to hunker my neck down to see forward when the top is up. That's in addition to the limited vision of a top up speedster in every other direction because of the nature of the beast.

Nevertheless, I prefer topdown driving with either car and for the bucks I'd have chosen this speedster, or at least investigated it's purchase, if it had been posted on the 6th. :) Talk about bad timing!!
Daryl,

Yes, I'm sure we're talking about the same car (how many could there be in Los Gatos?).

I don't have the car yet as I'm in WA state, but my check should have arrived this morning. The car was being sold by a dealer/vendor who is good friends with the owner. It was an ebay auction that had closed without meeting reserve. I found the expired auction in a google for IM cars and emailed the seller to inquire if it was sold. It was not though they had offers and a very interested offeror, so I just met the price and bought the car.

Waiting now, with no small anticipation..:)
Are you kidding, Daryl?

That's awful!

What's strange is that in a way this car is a kind of consolation prize as I'd missed one I THINK I like better even though it had many more miles on it and was a full 25% more expensive.

Are you considering Tom's Speedster of this thread? IMO it's a great price.

I've been wondering about the expense and difficulty of converting a Speedster to a roadster. Since the roadster windshield frame is not part of the mold they probably both use the same bolt holes? I'm only guessing.
