Guys, I think I am going to be selling my 1984 Intermeccanica Roadster RS Coach. Intermeccanica Production Serial No: IM12040. It is an early example built on a shortened VW chassis. See the link at the end of this message for more info on the build detail from Robert Ruskey at Intermeccanica. I have owned it since 2016. I have put on a new cloth top, new wheels, new tires, new Moto-Lita steering wheel, luggage rack, new brakes, new dual carburetors,
It does need new floorpans, the origianal ones are bad . It was originally Guards Red and had a not so good color change to black.
I have a friend who wants to buy it but think he may be too low on the price. Would appreciate some input on what you guys think it might be worth ?
Thanks for the consideration.
Mark

Prices are insane. I'd say ~$10,000 across the board in the last year. Sellers are now getting real P money or double Z4. Dr Clock was looking for simple Speedsters to fix up about 2 years ago for $15-20,000. You could find them everywhere for $25. Now they start at 35-45 ....

This early IM (1977) recently sold on BAT for $39,000 if this helps.

Off topic but the new no-commenting rule on for sale ads isn't working out

Lane put a link up to a 356 barnfind up but put it under the classifieds so so one can even discuss it. Maybe make the posts on the classified choose an option to allow questions and comments or not?

That was my bad.  I forgot about the no comment rule.  @Theron, could you puhleeeze move that to “Anything Goes” so that it’ll get the witty comments it deserves?  😬

I'd go a little higher than Michael's recommendation above.  The market for these is quite hot right now, and summer is coming along soon.

I'd go at least $35,000 or more to start with.  If yours is a decent driver, the paint can wait.  Lots of these cars have ten foot paintjobs.  And floor pans are not such a big deal to repair/replace.

It's a Convertible D, with roll up windows, a fairly waterproof top, and other quality aspects.  And it's an Intermeccanica, which carries a certain cachet.  It's no run of the mill Speedster, if you market it right.

I agree with Bob 100%. $35K is the absolute floor, and I think it's worth >$45K, given the current market.

This is a Roadster, boyz - a Convertible D. It's got comfortable seats, a windshield anybody can get behind easily, and it's weathertight. It's what everybody over 50 years old should want, if we weren't a bunch of juvenile delinquents who aged out of the system.

I guess it depends on the mileage, condition of the drivetrain, etc. If it needs new paint and floor pans and the mileage is high, you may be looking at high $20Ks to low $30Ks. The price (and time) to bring it back to great condition probably needs to be less than the cost of a new one.

And IMO, huge consideration would have to be paid to whether you could do that work yourself. I’d take a WAG that paying someone to replace the floor pans and to a complete respray would be $10-$15K minimum.
