Actually about 10 new listings: coupe, speedsters, 550 spyder....
It has recaro cloth seats which are used by IM for those who do not like leather.
1984 built Over 30 years old... so you would have to go through it all to see just exactly what is too old and needs updating or renewing. Since we are prohibited from commenting on value .... I won't
I will. Ridiculous price. Ridiculous.
Seller is hoping the buyer sees "IM" and ignores the year of manufacture or thinks it's not a replica at all
When did prohibition start here? I think we are still allowed to voice our opinions that's what makes this place so awesome.
I think cars sold by BH Motorcars are always overpriced. and like Ray said, the car is old and may need quite a bit of updating.
Offered by BH Motorcars. That is unfortunate.
Lower the rear end and its an otherwise attractive vehicle. Can't tell if that paint is metallic. Wouldn't be my first choice if it were.
I've lost touch on speedster prices. Can't really comment anymore on value.
I would say best of luck, but everyone here knows my position on Butt Hole Motorcars.

OKAY! A bit PRICEY......it does appear that many IM cars catch a premium, but this might be a bit of wishful thinking? Interior does NOT appear to be all leather as suggested in the ad....a clean, documented, one owner car might have some additional value but methinx this might be a reach?
Ok... I think it's an original NO, but the owner "seems to be", attempting to present an OLD IM that way... so he is dreaming of getting someone name Tucker who's name will be quickly changed to....s..
Other than that the price is ridiculous
The cabrolet is more rare than what we normally see. I like the car with a few tweaks.
It is an IM Roadster hence the tall windshield, roll up windows etc. Recaro's are customer's choice. In pictures cars pretty much look good all the time
It might be a good base at the right price which is substantially lower than the asking price.
I checked out in person. The car Is very rough. nothing special about it whatsoever and they are asking for all the money.
Great Nick ... you confirmed what we all knew .... California Dreaming..
Ray,
You are spot on. My entire life I've dreaming about owning a Porsche 911. I'm proud to say my dream continues to repeat itself, as I've now owned and enjoyed five Porsches over the years. Sad to say I'm between Porsches right now, and I've been dreaming about owning number six! I'll make that a reality too!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Same to you.... there are used IM's that are in the real world that come available ...

99 was first WATER COLED? They are very inexpensive these days...the 98 air cooled selling for TWICE what 99s asking....
Good time to by 996
Are the 996's stilled plagued with the IMS issue?
I had a 2002 996 for a few years and I got lucky NOT dealing with the IMS issue...
I had a 06 C4, they were still having the problem with some 05s, fixed it with a bigger bearing of some type(?)

You are lucky....my mechanic spends a couple of days each month addressing catastrophic IMS failures and quite a few guys are pro actively doing opportune rebuilds to address it before it becomes a heap of metal....a very unfortunate black eye once they switched to water cooling.
Hard to believe that 1999 thru 2013 911s are priced considerably lower than 1984 thru 1998....you can buy a 2011 for $45K and a 98 for $100K or even $200 for a 98 TURBO. It appears that some folks(me) just wont let go of the air cooled flat six. SINGER flat six remakes go from $400K to $700K for an air cooled six as they go from 3.6 to 4.0/and addition of carbon fiber adds huge dollars to the build.
Soon enough there will be no more newly built fossil fuel motors, neither air nor H2O cooled as the planet continues to choke...
Yes. All 996's (and I think, Boxsters and Caymans, too) from 1998 through 2005 are potential candidates for IMS issues. There are a couple of fixes available, costing between $1500 and $4000, depending on which way you go. It's recommended that you upgrade the IMS bearing when you do a clutch change, since you've pulled the transaxle anyway. It can be done with the engine in the car - it's close quarters, but manageable.
You are all crazy. The 993 Turbo Coupe is where its at.

Gordon, at least the Boxsters had the IMS problem through 2009 as far as I know
the worst years were the single bearing 2000-2005 but until the motor changed in 2009 every engine was subject to failure of the bearing.
Average failure rate was 8% (about 10 times lower than Powerhaus engines)

The 993 was the LAST GREAT PORSCHE...indeed
And the 996 Turbo (No IMSB issues) can be had for under 40K...Talk about bang for bucks!

For some reason..the LARGE bucks on TURBO are still heavily in the air-cooled sector from 76 to 98. You are right about 996 Turbos but for whatever reason, runoff from IMS or WATER, few folks are interested. A big bang for buck but ? its like driving your grandmas Lexus with a wing on the trunk.
