I went to the Intermeccanica shop in Vancouver back in the early nineties and was welcomed and had a great tour of the shop. Wanted a Roadster very much but never got one. A couple of weeks ago I was looking at a house for sale down the block from mine in the Paseo Arts District of Oklahoma City. Over the fence in the next yard was a black Intermeccanica in sad shape. Long story short I was able to buy it from the gentleman and brought it home. Now a proud owner of a Intermeccanica Roadster.

What Bill said. What can you tell us about it?
Nothing 'SAD' about the smile on your face right now--looks nice in your drive doesn't it.
Welcome to the Madness, Mark! Do you know if your new ride is tube framed ('87 on, I think) or an earlier pan-based car? That will be important for any advice you may ask for from this forum.
Also - Henry Reisner (IM) visits us on occasion and can be a great resource for information, advice, and parts.
Nice score, Mark! Welcome to the Madness known as replica 356 ownership.
Welcome Mark. Cool story. Had a similar experience. I took a visit to IM in 2002. Henry gave me the tour. Saw 4 cars in various build stages including a stone grey IM6. Couldn't make the financial stretch at the time. Found a nice used one a few years ago.
Doesn't look too sad now. Congratulations on the find. Learn everything you can about the car and fill us in with all the details. WTTM
Looks like it's going to be doing a happy dance.
Drive that puppy.
Nice find.
Congrats...Probably not a pan car ...imho, pans stopped in 1984 ish...
Tell us about the diamond pattern seats. They're a favorite on here.
Thanks everybody for the welcome. The car is a tube framed car that has metal floor pans that are rusted out under the seats. Have braced with a temporary plywood overlay so the car is driveable. The original leather seats are shot as are the front carpets. Has a single solex. I have already added a rack, headlight griil guards, cocoa mats, aero mirrors and just got new chrome 4 lug wheels with nipple hubcaps. I have had 911's & 356's in the past and the Intermeccanica is just as fun to drive. Took it out old Route 66 last Sunday. Did about a hundred miles but had to get it home when the brake pedal went away. Will look at brake system this weekend.

Behave youself, Bob!
Bob, The diamond pattern is what was on the cheap old seat covers covering up the dried up torn old tan leather. Have put some sheepskins on for now. Also has a very small funky old foam steering wheel. Thinking I will put a 15" Moto-Lita on but have not decided yet.

Mark:
I'm diggin' those sheepskin seat covers. When I was a kid, all of the cooler 356 drivers in my town had 'em! (all four of them)
I've upgraded a bit since then. Couldn't bring myself to the infamous "Diamond Pattern", though....

How awesome is that, Mark! What a lucky find!
Cool Beans Mark. Looks like you've got some work to do.
Pete
Looks like the PO didn't know it had roll up windows...We look forward to seeing it transform!
Bill, The PO had the windows rolled up and plastic over the bad original top. Don't think he knew it was an Intermeccanica. For some reason the Oklahoma title just says Roadster for make and model. Have been in touch with Henry at Intermeccanica about getting a new top.

Nice find, Mark.
Way back in 1984 a local TV show called Driver's Seat did a short piece on an Intermeccanica Roadster. I mailed IM a letter asking for a price list and spend hours going over the material IM sent me.
In the end I realized I couldn't afford one and put the thoughts of owning a new 1984 IM out of my head (Sort of).
Then in 1999, a year before by 50th birthday, I decided to treat myself and finally get that IM. I still couldn't afford a new one, so I started looking for a used Roadster.
I ended up buying a used 1984 IM Roadster from Henry. It was the same year car as the price/option list that IM had sent me back in 1894.
Cool story much like mine. Went all the way to Vancouver in the early nineties but couldn't justify it then. Then to stumble across on in a backyard one block from my house. Very long odds on that happening but it did. Looking very much forward to making the changes I want then once I have it to my liking then blowing it apart and sending it to my painter. Did that on my old Beemer.

I guess my last sentence should read...."IM had sent me back in 1984". I don't think they were building cars in 1894.
If they were then that would make Porsche 356's replicars ! ! !
