I'm pretty sure they were? I think 78 was the last of the pan cars for IM. Do you have an IM serial number? If so you email or call henry to make sure of its year and such. I have seen cars that were listed as a newer year because thats when they were redone or when it was finally completed from a "roller". It dishonest, but I have seen it done.
Hey, can we all be moderators, so we can delete our postings (and the record of us having made a posting) also, when we feel we have not been accurate?

Steven had posted that he felt this IM was a tube frame - an honest opinion - and had made other comments about how some speedsters were 're-yeared' based on when they were finished, licensed, etc. which I thought was a good caveat, and constituted a good posting.

Now that posting is gone, and that's not a good thing.
Actually, since it is so important to you, I will say it again.

What I said, was I believe they started making the tube frames in 78, but you should get the serial number of the car in question and call or email henry. I also mentioned that it doesn't really matter what year the person feels the car is, when they may just be saying what year they completed it, such as in the case of a "roller". Or sometimes people rebuild them and retitle them as a later year, because most states will let you say it is whatever year you want it to be under the "specialty constructed" rules.

In fact I would suggest no one trust any year that the owners say it is, because many people don't realize this fact and buy an older car that has just been retitled as newer. They unknowingly then sell it later as the wrong year.

Oh and while I'm at it, I still say mileage means nothing, because the mechanical odometers in these cars can easily be reset anyway.

Now Robert, I will step down as a moderator, because I don't really enjoy doing it anyway and when I want to erase a post I can just edit it anyway. The minute you actually become a donating member, I agree to not moderate. I'm sure you can go back to watching people fight and then complaining about the fighting like you used to. Of course the last time I actually saw a productive post from you was???? NEVER
Geesh, I didn't even have time to post here and "boom" all the less than polite banter has been wiped clean .....I'll go to bat for Bob Carley in a heartbeat....
Wonder how long this post stays? As I have in the past, been a long time contributing member.

Bob Carley has been around long before you and many others were, he has been a pillar on this forum!
Bob, like quite a few others members became fed up with all of the childish antics.
Perhaps in the best interest of this forum, since you become so easily "irritated" as you put it, you might consider seriously resigning your moderator position as it surely has become your personal soap box.

Alan M.

I would use the serial number of the car and call Henry to determine what year it actually is and how the car was built.

Specially Constructed cars can many times be titled any year the owner wants to title them and especially if it was a "roller" versus turnkey.

This is true on CMC and other cars also. Thats how you see a CMC listed as a year that they weren't even in business anymore. The person elected to register the car in the year of finish not when the body was made?

Mileage is also suspect on cars as these cars have mechanical odometers and can be rolled to say anything the owner wants it to say, so you really have to inspect the car.
Well that depends. A replicar of a Speedster fetchs anywhere from 20-30 CDN used. Depends what condition the body and paint is, what the interior is like, motor and condition of etc... Because it is so hard to lisence these things in Canada there is a sellers market unlike the US which in most cases is a buyers market for used ones. But I would say, 20-30K.
