Those of you who are Carlisle regulars will remember  John Estes and his constant companion, Tom the golfer, from years past.   Sadly, John passed from a heart attack a few years ago and his wife has been keeping his roadster going since (she takes it to the same mechanic as John used).  She recently contacted me to assist her in selling the car, because Rhode Island, where she lives, recently adopted the new, onerous regs for "kit cars" similar to Massachusetts and she doesn't want to deal with the hassle of fighting with the DMV up in Cranston (pronounced "Cvansten", out through the nose, if you're a local).

It is an Intermeccanica Roadster, Ivory color, IM articulated Stay-fast top with zip-in back window, looks like burgundy interior (with electric 6-way roadster/cabriolet seats!) and IIRC, it has a 2,110 with 40mm carbs.  I only drove it once, at Carlisle, helping to diagnose a small problem that we fixed at the hotel, and it seemed to have the usual amount of power for a 2,110, at least blasting up the I-81 on-ramp!  Here's a photo of John at Carlisle in 2006 with the back window zipped down (I think that's a power radio antenna, too!):

So here's the deal.   I will be visiting Mrs. Estes in the coming week to take a good look at the car, take lots of photos and work up a good description along with what it might need.  I'll test drive it as part of the inspection.  We'll also agree on an asking price and then I'll put an ad up on here for it.  She is a reasonable lady and will not be asking for the world, just a fair price in recognition of what it might need for someone to get it back to "tip-top shape" for the season.  I know that John took very good care of his toy, so I suspect that it is still in good shape, but only an inspection will tell - I haven't seen the car in three years.

Stay tuned, if you're in the market.  This should be a very nice car for someone for the coming driving.

Again, the car is located in southern Rhode Island.  Buyer will pay for transport via your carrier.  I do not know the current registration status, given the new Rhode Island regs, but John was the original owner and the title is not a problem.  I will let you know what it is titled as (I know it is an Intermeccanica, but don't know if it is a 1957 or 1996 or what)

Personally, John was a good friend and I just want to see his car go to a good home.

I’m VERY interested and on the east coast N.C. If it has a tube frame.

A 1996 IM would have the factory made, bespoke steel frame.

Great cars.  As with all Speedster replicas, you need to understand the limitations of these cars, and be able work on them, or else have a good mechanic/garage/buddy who can help you keep them in top shape.
