Hi folks, Terry here. Long-term member, newbie question:

I'm removing my 3 point seatbelts to install the 2 point setup. Can somebody post photos and measurements for the correct mounting points? I know, seatbelts in one of these toys is like braces on a pair of dentures, but I'd to continue the false belief of safety while cruising around in my plastic potato.

Thanks, and feel free to highjack this thread with everything but it's original inquiry.

Hopefully, one of you fellow knuckleheads will answer my questions.

I hated the three point belts and they were even more dangerous because the belt should route to a point above your shoulder. In an accident they could compress your spine.

After having the 2-pounts installed, I rolled through a seat belt enforcement zone and the officer approached my car and was fine with the 2-points.

In Michigan, cars built before 1965 don't require seat belts, however, my car was built in 2010, although it replicates a 1958.

I'm content with the 2-points :-)

For what it's worth, Terry, here's how VS does it:

And here's where the bolts come out under the pan:

SeatbeltMounts02a

It looks like they're as far back as possible on the horizontal part of the seat well. It looks like a better place might be higher up on the vertical part of the seat well, but maybe not.

Where they are, the bolts (and thin sheet metal of the pan) are stressed in shear as the belts come under load, which might be more secure than on the vertical part of the seat well.

Of course this is a VS, so the decision of where to mount them probably got made based on the simplest, cheapest way to do it.
