Email me for pic's mine are too big to download.
My highschool girlfriend had an automatic VW super beetle. It is more accurately described as a clutchless stick. Let off the gas and shift like a traditional stick, but without the clutching. It actually was a hoot to drive, and didn't seem to hog a little HP like a traditional slushbox.
When the three speed Auto Stick when it worked correctly (key word) they were blast to drive as long as you remembered not to rest your hand on the shift knob, to do so would disengage the electro-solenoid vacuum clutch ( it did have a clutch) and you were in neutral with the rpm's screaming.
Most of the shifting problems were correct adjustment of the shift handle base where there was a set of dime points that operated the clutch arm vacuum servo, the small wire there would also tend break off.

It is a regular automatic, not the automatic shifting. D=Drive R=Reverse

I HAD A 68 AUTOMATIC VW. WAS A HOOT WAS MY FIRST CAR, NEVER ANY PROBLEMS.
Same positive experience for me with that tranny. I bought the car to replace an Audi Fox, worst vehicle I ever owned, and that is going a ways!

I finally condensed the pictures and have downloaded. Enjoy...

What's going to happen to our classified section if Jane's really bought a car?
Who'll read it?
Seriously, congrats to both Michael and Jane!
