It is with great anticipated relief that I am trying to get rid of this piece of crap that I call a car. The body has star fractures all over it, stone chips across the front, and a big scratch down the side. The driver door doesn't close well cuz I have slammed it too many times. The 1600cc engine is running on at least 2 cylinders, maybe 3, and leaks lots of oil. I can't seem to get it to shift into 3rd, and the clutch is gone. It has nice slick-type 185/65/15s on 3 corners and a space-saver on the other. No top, rust hole in the floor behind the seats. I'm pretty sure this rare car was built by Dr. Porsche himself, and was used as his personal car for a while. All in all, a very nice car. Asking $35,000.

OK, do I have a deal for you guys. If you remember I bought the IM 82/91 Henry had in his shop. I got it into NJ and it has been sitting in my garage since April because NJ hasn't seen fit to issue a title yet, but I'm very close. So I figure I'll get rid of mine and buy another one from you guys north of the boarder because I now know what the state wants and it will be a breeze to get it titled in under 4 months. :)
No nipple caps, but I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

If you want handling, put the space-saver on the rear. If you want acceleration, then put the space-saver on the front.

Emergency brake works great, which is good, cuz I screwed up the front disk-brake conversion and when I put the drums back on, the springs and other little parts got me confused so I just left them out.

Also, I forget to mention that I have removed the little speedster seats and installed a nice pair of electric seats from a 1972 Cadillac. Now you sit up nice and high in the comfortable seats able to see right over that tiny little windscreen...
Dear Mr. Leonard:

Is you car still for sale? I have been looking for one exactly like that for quite a while now. Unfortunately, I am not able to take a look at it, as I do not live nearby.

However, I would be glad to send you a third party cheque to cover the cost of the car. This cheque is for money owing to me by someone else. Unfortunately, the cheque is for more than what you are asking. But if you can forward me the difference, then I will mail the cheque to you asap.

I think we will both be very happy with this arrangement.

P.S. My name is not really Carley, but I had to use this email address, as I do not live near a computer, either.
I took some pictures of the new beast, but when I tried to download them into my computer things went bad....real bad. I've got computer trouble.
Looks like the 911 pickup is also sold. Money hasn't changed hands yet, so, as Bob knows, the deal's not done until the money's in the bank. Sold it on ebay, to a fellow from California. Almost lost the deal when we found out the duty on pickups is 25%. I thought that the duty on all vehicles going into the US was 2.5%...not so. Anyways, after some checking I found out that if the vehicle was originally sold in the US it can come back in duty free.
I still plan on going to the VW show this year. If the single cab doesn't sell I'm going to bring it, along with some parts I want to sell, and put a 'for sale' sign on it. If it sells, I'll bring the Monster Miata.
Ron
The 'Monster' is for the 302 Ford V8 that is stuffed under the hood;
260 hp. It would be fairly easy to get more HP out of this motor, but why...the car is already scary-fast. Actually, more than the HP, I love the torque. It doesn't matter what gear you're in. 5th gear at 20 mph...no problem...just press down on the gas. 300 foot/pounds is something else.
Ron
Ron finally comes clean and tells us what he bought. Is it the modern equivelent of a Cobra or Sunbeam Tiger? I just did a test run in my car last week. 0-60 in 5.9sec, and 1/4 mile in 13.89 at 96.7 mph. First 1/4 mile run ever. With some practise I should be able to get into the low 13s. I'm guessing my car is still faster than brother Ron's...
Actually, the above post has me thinking of the conundrum I'm in. On the one hand I've sold my IM/speedster and now own a V8 powered Miata. On the other hand I VERY MUCH prefer the speedsterowners forum members, over the Miata forum members. Maybe it's the age thing; in that many of the members on this forum are around my age, while the Miata crowd is....how can I put this nicely....younger. It's not that younger people are nitwits. It's just that the older I get the more I think that they are..differnt. That's not to say that all young peole are out-to-lunch. But, when you ask, on the Miata forum, how to put on under-body neon lighting...I'm thinking it's time to RUN.
I'm still on this forum because I like the people on this forum.
Ron
Okay Ron...I just read your post. What do you do with a brother that is younger than you (by a few years), but is taller and better looking? Buy a faster car...you bet!
Watch is Ron, I'm going to the gym five days a week and I've dropped 27 pounds! (my last grasp at youth before I slip into old age)
I'm still getting used to the car, and launches are a bit difficult, not that I've tried many. The big problem is traction. With my Ford 5 speed the best launch is in second gear, but even then, wheel spin is a real concern. It's very easy to light up the 235/45 x 17s.

Am I seeing a challenge here? 1997(something)IM against a 1990 Miata?
Ron
Ron, that would be my only hope, that you can't get enough traction and I can get a good head start. Even if I beat you off the line, you'd likely pass me eventually, like after I hit the 'fear limit'. That's the speed where steering accuracy goes away and fear causes you to lift off the throttle.

Bruce, yes I got a gtech pro comp. From what I have read they are consistantly accurate to 2/10ths or better. It allows setups for 5 or so cars, so we can use it on your car too if you want to try it. We can try it on yours too Ron if you want.
There are two versions of g-tech. The $100 version and the $250 version. I got the expensive one. I can get them wholesale here in Canada, which works out to Cdn$320.00. Not cheap, but very cool. I'm going to race my car at Mission in Aug before the VW show and will run the G-tech at the same time to see just how accurate it is.

Bob, are you making a joke or are you really asking cuz you don't remember? I'll tell ya if you want to know, but if you made an east coast type joke and I just didn't get it, I don't want to bore anyone...

Ron L: I saw those things at Mopac about a year ago for $200 not sure which one it was though. Love to give it a try.

Were do you do a high-speed run in Burnaby? I need to do some higher speed runs to do some data logging for the EFI. 1st and 2nd are a bit too quick to get enough data points and by the time I
