Rick, The photos look great! What a wonderful build. So much thought went into it, and it was executed so well, by the IM crew. Im next! Coming to take delivery Oct 25th, hope to see you and Brenda, and some SUNSHINE!!!!!!
howard,
call me if you want to either arrange to have me as a copilot as far as Olympia or just want to get together during your trip to IM.

You guys are going to have to stop this -- I can't get any greener. Enough with these uber-Speedsters. And I really want to know about that windscreen: does it really work? If so, I'd seriously consider something similar. How does it hook in? "Sweet ride" does not even start to tell what this machine is all about. Gotta go now, there is too much drool on my keyboard . . .
Rick - I'm really digging on the clean uncluttered look of your engine bay. Walk softly - but carry a BIG stick, comes to mind! WOOOOHOOOO!
OK, I'll do it.
Hey Jim....Stick this...

I got your stick RIGHT HERE!! LOL
This wise-acre banter makes me feel like I'm back in the service goofing with my buddies from New York/New Jersey! To me, it was funny then and still funny today (simple mind).
Rick - try not to have TOO MUCH fun driving that bad-boy!

Ohhh...You'll fit right in if you make Carlisle. If you could make it a trio with Gerd and Vince, they'd be locking us up!

Ok, Rick, you owe me one keyboard. You wouldn't believe the damage that drool can do.
Mine too! After looking at the pics, I see where the lean mean comes in...those specially lowered rear wheel openings are the Bomb!
What's the little scoop under the front valence do?

Since you asked twice Bill, here's the scoop on that setup (pun intended).
I challenged Henry with duplicating the 911 heat/vent system so I could mix both sources (ambient & heat) to fine tune the temp since those 911 exchangers pump out big heat and it's tough to moderate it with just the cable lever, plus I wanted cool air as well.
His answer was to install a scoop under the bumper with large ducting up the inside of the fender well and into the cabin thru a shutoff valve, then into the blower assembly. The heat system also goes thru the fan assembly for boost and direction control.
With this setup I can have fresh air and/or heat directed at our feet or dash vents/defroster or a mixture of direction. Plus when sitting at idle I can boost the air flow from either source with the 3-speed fan. That means if we're in a summer rain shower, stuck in traffic and things start to fog up I open the fresh air intake valve and crank up the fan and direct the air flow to the defrost/dash vents and voila, we've got clear windows and cool air blowing on the passengers. The heat source which may not be needed is left shut. Pretty neat.
This obviously required a lot of plumbing under the dash but the lower dash valence that holds the radio and air vents covers everything nicely.
While driving thru Redding, Ca in September at 104F we kept the fresh air vent open with the fan off but directed the air flow to our feet and were very comfortable so this system is about keeping comfortable in hot and cold weather and works great!
I've used a lot of words to explain something fairly simple but I know this is a first for IM and as an option, one of the best you could invest in IMHO.

Six month update on IM Roadster 6.
We've just returned home from a 3600+ mile adventure to Palm Springs, driving in all kinds of weather (this is the North Wet!) and pleased to report another trouble-free fantastic drive. The pulse wiper option was great in light rain and the superb wipers + heat/defrost system worked well in the monsoon conditions, even when sandwiched between 18 wheelers on I-5. The engine ran so smooth and consistent it was like driving a new car, which in a sense is it! Thanks again to Henry & crew for building us a car that is comfortable, powerful and an absolute pleasure to drive.
Our odometer currently reads 8932 miles which means by the time we've had the car a year we'll have averaged over 1000 miles/month.
Check out the size of the Redwood trees dwarfing our Roadster in the attached photo we took while driving south on 101.

Rick - doing your homework on the specs you wanted IM to build into your car sure seems to have paid off - and worth EVERY penny spent!
A nice long road-trip in a very cool car with peace-of-mind on it's reliability, can't get much better than that!!
Happy Trails!!

Glad you had a nice trip Rick. I know that BIG TREE small IM feeling! I hope to be headed to BC for the BBQ!
Hi Rick, Glad to hear your car is ticking like a swiss watch. I have all of 1300 miles on mine as of this weekend. I absolutlely love this ride. I have had a couple of minor hiccups, but sorting them out is part of ownership. Nothing that would disuade me from doing it again. Hope all is well. I wont be able to make the BBQ this year. Family wedding on that weekend, but I'll be there in spirit.
Rick,
Great news. I hope to have a similar experience soon but with a different power plant. Working with Henry and team has been great and I have learned so much from the IM team that doing a 'next' car will be so much easier. Now if the US Peso would only return to being a Dollar!

Jim, as you noted planning helps keep these projects on track but IM is always ready and willing to go an extra mile to satisfy customer special needs.
Will, it would be neat if you came up for the BBQ & Tour. I looked ahead to December on the new SOC calendar at your beautiful image of the Redwoods Highway and your IM.
Howard, if you can't make the BBQ/Tour this year, maybe next? I know you are enjoying your 3.2L Speedster. Maybe you can post some pics.
Tomm, your new water cooled ride is going to be excellent with lots of innovative ideas surrounded by a proven fine automobile. Keep the updates coming.

I just noticed the post about the interior / exterior air intake for the heater. I guess Henry based mine on your research, since I had it retrofitted a few months back and I have to say it's been great.
It rains in Vancouver, hmm, let me see. yes, every single day, and the car was fogging up inside quite a bit. With this new air intake and rain gutters over the windows it has made a HUGE improvement.
I highly recommend everyone get one.

John, your car needs this fresh air feature even more than ours since the aircooled engine is forcing outside air (while adding heat from the exchangers) into the cabin for the blower to spread around. Your watercooled car heater system would certainly benefit from an outside air source to avoid humidity build-up that is caused by recirculating inside air only. I bet the improvement is very substantial.
Just wait until it's hot outside and you can use that fresh air duct coupled with the blower to cool down the interior.
We're just past the 7 month mark since taking delivery of the car, the odometer reading is 9835 miles and we're still loving this IM6 Roadster.

OK, lets see... rain gutters and fresh air for the heaters must be on my list too. Thanks for being first, John and Rick!

Tomm, I don't have the rain gutters but you should option the fresh air setup for sure.
No snow here but close to freezing overnight which is really weird after 80 degree temps one week ago. This is a strange Spring season in the N.W.

Everywhere, Rick. We've seen the 80s several times already, but saw the high 30s for some lows this past week. Weird.

Exactly 365 days ago today, Aug 30th I drove our new IM Roadster home from Henry's shop. The photo taken moments ago shows the odometer reading @ 14,140 miles. That averages to 38.7 miles every single day. There are zero commute to work miles involved as I walk about 100 ft. to my office every day. What a fun car this has turned out to be!
My sincere thanks to the crew at Intermeccanica for constructing one fine automobile!
