If it were my car I'd think about installing a DC controller. This unit turns the fans on (low speed) at a set temperature and increases the fan speed as the temperature increases. No sudden temperature spikes with this unit. I have one in my monster Miata, which has a tendency (surprise, surprise) to run on the hot side.
Here's the website: http://www.dccontrol.com/0820.htm
I assume they are using the VW stock dual fan? If they are, the car is going to warm up steadily until the thermostat opens up, and then the fan is going to be turned off and on by the engine computer. But, there are several different ways to do it effectively.

I like the continuous variable speed fans though. It makes for very gradual temperature changes, like Ron said, but it also, keeps the electrical load demand from making abrupt changes. That is a nice side benefit.
Tomm, I told Henry we would be there, until my niece told us that she was getting married that weekend in the USVI. I'll be roughing it at the 4 Season's Ritz on St Thomas. I would have "loved" to test out the Volvo, never had the pleasure of driving one. Your car is looking awesome. I can attest that it is the most fun car to drive. My 3.2 is everything I'd hoped it would be. I know your getting frosty for it, hang on!!!!!!!
I bought three calenders for the two offices and one for home. I have to admit "Miss July" looks pretty damn good. Rick Davis took that photo during a test drive, but its even better in person. Sometimes I just go into the garage at night, just to stare at it! Tomm your time is coming, I wish it were completed for you to use for the BBQ. As I told Stoich, something Davis and I already know, Its worth the wait, and EVERY penny your overspent!
All,

Went on the IM tour and was treated to hearing my engine run in the car for the first time (my first, not Henry and Kevin's). Nice sound, not too loud, not too silent. Car needs to be finished up and there is not too much left to do. The 225/50s on the rear just, and I mean just, fit.

The tour was wonderful. It was centered in the Frasier river valley at Harrison Hot Springs, BC, Canada. Saw the usual suspects (Dale, that is YOU) and met several new friends. Henry let me drive a 3.2 liter Porsche 6 powered "turbo look" speedster owned by his brother. What a monster. Get into 3rd at 30 and run it all the way to 110 without shifting due to the HUGE torque band.

I will post some pics to this message shortly...

Car is aligned front and rear. Front sways in, rear missing a bushing or something. Henry drove it home today and called me just ecstatic over the performance. Rear sway and undercoating tomorrow. Off to the dyno next week for some tuner action then the intake and exhaust plumbing gets ceramic coated silver and road testing begins.

I bought a vintage 1958 WA license plate today and am now looking for a source for a 59 reflective year tag to make it perfect. Brooks turned me on to the vintage YOM (year of manufacture) plate program in WA which allows a replica to use a YOM plate for the life of the car.

Soon now, I will get to drive the beast.

Hey Tomm, Speak to Henry about the problem he's having with the 911 rear CV boots. I have experienced failure of the inboard/outboard boots, as has Stoich, Davis. They tear prematurely. Matt Stoich has replaced his 3 times within 4k miles. Henry says he's working on a solution, but..... they are not holding up. My car is at the shop as we speak for replacement. Very frustrating as Henry has been aware of this issue with his 911 sourced builds. On the plus side,he been very responsive with replacement of said boots, but my tech may use a more agressive off road racing boot, w/o clamps so that they "float" without friction. I knew that there would be teething problems and Henry is working to see that this issue is resolved going foward.
Howard never goes much BELOW 140 as far as I can tell. I am already the coolest dude in Olympia, the car will make me flat out irresistible. Vince, how could you fall asleep with such exciting reading? The cost of the car is between Henry and I but it is quite dear due to the full custom nature and all the meddlesome additions I put into the mix. The only savings between a 911 based IM and my car is the engine cost difference.

Whoever buys S/N 002 of this version will get a real treat based on all the custom engineering that Henry and team did to fit the 1.8t and all its plumbing. Mine is the experimental production car while John's 1.8 NA car was the prototype to prove it could be done.

I bought some new RayBans just to drive the car and look cool!
