Private Party in San Diego....Take advantage of this opportunity to own a one of a kind and special ordered 1957 Porsche Speedster Replica. What makes this most unique is that it does not have the unsightly Volkswagen e-brake on the tunnel. My goal in building this Speedster was to make it appear as authentic as possible and emulate some of the original character that makes this automobile so highly sought after. I purchased an original 356 umbrella e-handbrake, and its been engineered and fit to the car (where it belongs) on the left side of the steering wheel under the dash. Indeed an original example of this model can bring upwards of $200K. This automobile is well equipped and has only 805 miles on it. I

u dumb canadian it is on the classied section :)
The car was obviously purchased this year and has 800+ miles....I can't help but wonder why so many go thru the process, only to discard it in short order...
Sounds like a nice car but Michael is right, you need pic's, especially of that fabulous e-brake....

Very Nice Speedster!
With a starting bid of 24.5K, I would be extremely suprised if it gets 1 bid....That's not a good way to sell on ebay...
zero feedback is another red flag....

A hefty undisclosed reserve at least fuels some feeding frenzie plus he can always fall back to highest bidder if its a must sell. Add to that 805 miles isn't enough to id much less work any build bugs out.
Mike, I love that pic.....
Reserve bidding also lets you know how much interest (if any) there may be....definite strategy thing for possible re-listing etc....

Do you have any photos of this car??
He has link to CL and ebay listing of the car several post above.
I sold a banjo on ebay this year and decided to have NO RESERVE on it.
Well the first bid was a stupid $2 one but it ended up bringing $4,500 which is $1,000 more than I hoped for. There were a LOT of bids too. I'll do this way again ---I bet it works the same way with a Speedster. (To get this thread back on track.)---Jack

Jack, I sold my 1991 Westy on evilbay, but put a median price reserve on it to protect me if I didn't get near what I wanted. Reserve 4K, got 7K for it, which was very nice. I woulod have gotten more if I sold it a year earlier, though, when it had less rust on it.
Danny--you done good on the westy!

My thought is why would you build a car like this and sell it with 850 miles on it in less than a year. Does that mean you don't like the car or does it have problems or are you just strapped for cash.
BTW the "Umbrella" hand brake sucks.......it looks cool but it does not work real well if your on a hill and using it to keep from rolling backwards..........;-)
Just thinking out loud..........

777joee, my umbrella handbrake works pretty well, perhaps yours needed adjustment. Just sayin...
Wow, $4,500 for a banjo steering wheel? I didn't know they were so valuable.
Geesh.. I have a new banjo wheel in the flat Four Box for $3,900 :)
