Prez. Paul...by all means be the liason for the TD group...the more the merrier.

Bob..talk Stan into coming....I gotta get a ride on that sled!!

Tom, Saw the unfortunate happenings re: Dupont on Fbook a few weeks back. A few of us here, me included, have been there done that....it's a tough pill to swallow, but if there's a glint of a silver lining here, it would be having you join us at the Carlisle gathering.

Looks like you boys have a convoy!!

Jim,

As you are the first to respond your in if it is a go. At this point as long as everything works out I'm 95% sure it is a go.

Alan my brother. I like your thinking but I will pass on the offer. May to September is a lot of driving I would be missing and I would also not have the car for the Pismo trip.

Bob,

I know Stan was a little busy this weekend. Jim and I would pick you guys up along the way.

Cory, said I would need an IM-8 to make it over the mountians. 9,000 ft plus in Yosemite this year only had the car running fat. It still pulled the weight.

Epic? This could almost be like the Gumball Rally. I'm wondering if we could turn this into some kind of charity run.

Thoughts?
Dave:
Greatidea for a charity run. Is there some charity in Carlisle that could use some help? Always good to leave a place you visit better off than when you got there. (Trust me, my presence has NOT been enough to improve any place I've ever been! A donation or bail was routinely required to make a positive difference.)

I don't know anything about putting something like this together, but support the idea.
Toughen up there Lane! I hope you at least go for the bacon and cheese! Toss on some hot sauce...cuts right through the cholesterol!

And just for the record...the stand is run by Carlisle High School Marching Band. Dads man the grill, band members manage the front, take orders, payment etc.

As the dad of a band kid (and drum major!) I know how hard these kids work. They deserve our support! The fact that it's a freakin' good sammich is just a bonus! :)
Ooooooo.....That's foul stuff.

Oban or Tullamore Dew 43...Now that's the stuff!

For you folks, like me, who don't do eggs, The CHSMB booth also has (created for me the first year I got there) a Canadian Bacon, Sausage, Ham and cheese extravaganza that'll keep you going until around 4pm. Perfect for that long day on the show field.

Hot sauce is optional......

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm ready!
Yes indeedy -- $5.00 off, just did it and recommend you do the same. A whopping $16 for three solid days of hangin' w/ my buds and showing off cars, not to mention driving here and there and toasting the weather, and dem egg sammiches. If there is a better deal, I dare you to find it.

I could not break through the phone lines at the C. Inn, but will keep trying. There is no such thing as planning too early, only waiting too late. Don't be too late, so will have to find a room out in East Jesus somewhere's.
Waaahoooo...we're booked for three nights in Carlisle 2011. Taking the long route though starting in Sacramento thanks to the kind hosting / receiving my shipped Speedster by Dave Mitchell and winding our way down the Pacific coast highwy to LA, up to Vegas, down to Route 66, up to Silverton, CO, over to see friends in Taos, NM, down to Albuquerque, Amarillo, Ok. City, Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville and up 81 to Carlisle. We'll get one of those stick on the windshield type of video cameras too. Looking fwd to meeting Y'all.

Marty---right you are---after doing this trip I believe that David will have the all time Speedster distance record.

Danny, I think Hoss holds the distance record today---Knoxvile to L.A. for the Knotts event. That's 400 miles farther than my Hot Springs AR to Morro Bay run last year. At Carlisle We'll pass the hat for David's hemmohroid operation---a great Longest Drive award!

David--I'm glad to see you doing the I-40 route. After Oklahoma city, Hot Springs is a day's drive so spend the night here with me and Alice then we can head to Knoxville together for the annual dinner with Hoss and Sarah and my son Russ with his 911. Then to Christiansburg, VA and meet up with nolan, Gordon, Leon and Lane. Next day to the annual lunch at Hagerstown, MD then on into Carlisle. The trip from here to Carlisle is a hoot but the run from Hagerstown is maybe 15 cars after adding Corey and Theresa, Alan and Kim Merkin, Kelly, our resident rocket scientist and Musbjim for year III I hope, plus 3-4 others. That last leg is as much Speedster fun as you might ever have East of the Mississippi!

Join us for that part of your trip! For the return trip I usually do Carlisle to Nashville then on to Hot Springs the next day.--join us for that too!
Jack, this is a record I will be happy to give up. It will give me the incentive to try something new....farther. And no, I did not have to sit on a "doughnut" during or after the drive; love the roadster seats. However, it is something to contemplate when you get up in the pre-dawn hours, drive for an hour or two with the heat on, find a breakfast stop and consider that the day's work is to drive. That's it. Yes, I have driven most of the length of I-40 heading west of home except for few hours of old US Route 66 from Seligman, AZ to Needles CA. Now that (66) was very cool.
I don't find my older Speedster seats too bad either having been plesantly surprised with them on the Boise to Ottawa trip last Sept. Maybe a result of too many miles on British bikes torturing my bony little butt. Jack, thanks for the kind offer but it's more likely we'll hook up with everyone at Christiansburg, VA as we may detour down to Huntsville, AL to see a buddy there. Do you fellas stay overnight at some hotel in Christiansburg or is it a meet and go thing ?
David, in Christiansburg we always stay at:

Fairfield Inn
2859 Roanoke St
C'burg
540381-9596

I had a suite there last year for $89 +tax.

C'burg is the day before Carlisle.

On your way over, if Gallup, NM is one of your stops, stay at the Comfort Suites--this was the nicest place we stayed ay on the entire Carlisle trip. $91 incl tax. Dinner at the El Rancho Hotel is an absolute must--Google it.

Best meal was at Idle Spurs Steal House in Barstow, CA. Sensational.

You will have a great time at Carlisle!
Seats

I bought a pair of seats from Mickey Donatella that he got for his 911 and then went in a different direction. They're high backed, reclining, tilting and wicked comfortable. WAY more support than the 914 seats I have in Pearl. I can't WAIT to get the new car done and take a ride in them. Those are the seats I want for a cross-country trip. I may even put them into the truck in the meantime!
