Just 108 days to go!
Hotel Carlisle booked 19 - 21.....We are in for the game car or no.....Working on it furiously, but finding one major problem after another.....It's a hobby...Right???
Is Marilyn coming? Oops, I mean Margaret.
Leon,
You can do it buddy, you're almost on the down hill side, paint, some electrical, interior exterior pinnings and pass over the motor.
I'm doing a full frig'n build for Carlisle. ~Alan

Any news on what's wrong with #3 cylinder?
Lane:
It's #3 cylinder.
Chevys had the wonderful "Quadrajet", VW's had #3 cylinder.

Alan: I started on my current build in 2009. Then had one surgery after another, delaying me by at least a year and am now desperatly trying to stay well long enough to get this damn thing done and give to Chris for it to be HIS problem.
Sometimes, I think gardening looks pretty good......or at least sitting on the back deck with a Rum Swizzle...........

Quadra-junk...
Given your back deck, I can see the attraction.
Yup, sat on the back deck tonight and watched the sunset. Rum swizzles, birds in the marsh, 70 degrees, tee-shirt weather, life is good.
Then we went in to watch the Northern White-Out on the Weather Channel - Ice, snow, wind, drifts, cold and more cold, then more ice and more snow.
Took another sip of the Rum Swizzle...This is the way to experience Winter, right Nolan?

Gordon, like they say...'Living well is the best revenge'! Sounds like you have a great set-up where you are. Tip a drink for me would ya!!
OK, You All,Just how tough is the drive to Carlisle? I'm thinking seriously about doing it. The knee is getting better every day (or maybe just cabin fever).
Driving time may be the big factor based upon how long I can drive without taking a break for knee walk about exercise. This problem exists regardless of how I travel any long distance.

Aaron....There is an "Olde Fhart" from Gainesville Ga. that dives or tows a vehicle ..... This may not make him "the sharpest tack in the box", but the good times are worth it all.....C'mon down / up....Whatever.... 8 - )
Besides, you'll be surrounded by like-minded people, and some of them are young enough and rugged enough to help drag you, your dead butt and your bum knee out of your car at rest stops to walk around.
Getting back in after that might be an adventure, though.....

As I suggested, use the SUV to tow it. Meet up with the caravan at some point and then the journey is part of the fun.
Day 1 to Christiansburg, VA is nine hours from Charleston with lots of gas and potty breaks, and a 1 hour lunch stop. Given that you are 4 hours north of me, you should be able to do it in 4 hours or so. If you're in the SUV, you might be able to go non-stop. Day 2 is 5 or 6 hours including lunch as we all do a relatively slow caravan, meeting up with a bunch of folks for lunch in Hagerstown, MD.

Now you all've done it! I'll call to see if i can get a room! I prefer to drive the "new" Merlot! I have an appointment Thursday at the rehab center. This is for evaluation to determine how many days a week to be tortured.
I can throw a pillow or two for leg support due to the leg room in the Becks. The stop and walking routine is required to prevent blood clots. I'll carry lots of mountain water and tea for comfort.

Atta-boy Aaron. You'll get plenty of help on this one from the other Southerners. And I bet you'll be much improved by the time this comes to be. You and Merlot will be welcome additions, for sure. I do like that color . . .
Good show Aaron, hopefully you will be feeling pretty good by May. Gotta work on getting that thing bending to 120o and the torturers will start going easier on ya! You'll spring back! Good Luck!

Aaron, can't wait to meet you! With all the new attendees, nametags are going to be mandatory!
Trust me, Danny, Aaron's pretty hard to miss.
That was good Lane. Danny, I think you should let Aaron drive your car.
Warning: Possible Thread Drift
OK, so I was intrigued by Lane's admonition that Aaron would be "hard to miss". Well, OK, how about I look in his photos and perhaps I will see why. Well, not really, but some fun stuff in their at any rate, including naked ladies -- Oh my! But no pix of Aaron sad to say, and just a few of his beautiful car. There is one picture especially that I like, titled "Speedster seat" which is the very definition of ergonomic. Great idea. Aaron: did you make that?? Great design, except some features seem a tad too small for me . . . BWAAAAHAAAHAAA

Okay, anyone else who has reserved a room? We're trying to keep track so we know when the block of rooms is running out so please post here when you've made you reservations. Thanks.

Marty, HAHAHAHAHA! I like my new paint just fine, thank you. I guess I will try and "miss" him ;)!!
Kelly, this is for you.
I'm the handsome one, of course. No, the one on the right. Ok, I'm the bald one.

Seat was designed by me ancestors from the Scotch Highlands! Most of the Scotch public houses use them. Shame our Southern Scotch Highlanders lost the art! They just brought the art of blockad'n, Had too to get the corn crop to the flatland markets for highest profit.

Oh, Ifrinn, take a look at my website www.linneardan.com. That's me in the kilt! Not that ugly one above...just after having Merlot sideswiped by a hit and run on the way to the Fiddlin' Pig!
Oh, I don't know how to drive in the furrin flatlands. Yuins ha' nary turs and twisty pathes? Ask Tom Blankenship about my drivin! Yu'll bring youselfs down in September!
Is Kelly's car fixed to just go in a straight line?

Aaron,
No, no, no, MY Red Baron is well accustomed to curvy lines done at speed. Perchance you can see for yourself at Carlisle on the backroad twisties. Sure hope so.

Aaron, Kelly drives so fast it just LOOKS like a straight line. Rest assured, it is only an optical illusion!

I believe we were discussing the proper caliber of round to use in the miscreant who sideswiped him on the way to dinner.

Oh, yes we were!
Danny, ask the Southern owners such as Lane. Tom, Tom and Barry why they don't enjoy riding with me in Merlot! HeeeHa!

Gents, I've made Show Field Reservations, today! Old new knee best let me travel.
It's just 212 miles from Lake Lure to Christenburg, VA. What is the Southern Caravan schedule?

I usually hit Christiansburg around 4:00-ish. I often eat lunch in Rock Hill, SC (just south of Charlotte) around 11:00 or so. I have to get an early start to make Christiansburg before dinner as it's around 400 miles the first day.
Lane,
Looks like I'll be way ahead of all even if I stop to move the knee. I like to travel early in morning. I'll be in Christenburg before you'll get started %~). It will be about 4 hour + drive for me. On the road by 8:00 and lunch at 1:00 in Virgina. Also, the early departure will allow me stop and work out the leg while visiting the sights.

Glad you'll be there Tom ~
