"With that big back bumper...my guess a Pontiac maybe."
Nope Chevelle for sure. The black insert makes me think 72 (Only) SS. Very rare.
72 had 4 round tail lights like the 73. The 73 was the new body style, delayed due to the need to add 5mph bumpers. 70-72 were different only in detail, but the rear bumper was one of them.
it wasn't legal in my day... F them...
I'll change my mind (not a Pontiac)...1970 Chevelle SS. A little blurry but, one can just make out what appears to be "SS" on the right side just left of the tail light in the black insert.

Back on topic, I thought I'd let Blake & Jen know that we are seriously thinking about driving down for this event. Depends a bit on business but if we do attend, count on us for help with the group photograph.
Excellent! It'll be good to see ya again, Rick!
I believe this thread is the polar opposite of the gun control thread. lol I like diversity!
Never too early to start our prep for SOC Pismo 2011. Here is a preliminary graphic for the event. I will coordinate with Theron and Cafe Press to have these available to order on T-shirts/Sweaters (graphic on back of apparel). More details to follow.

The shirt says Speedster Owners club , But there is a Gay looking coupe and a Spyder left and right of that cool silver one in the center........I hope I win another A1 exhaust...... John what's up?
Mark! Where did you get "Gay looking coupe?' It's not lavender! Well, maybe it is kinda close.
The Spyder looks really butch to my eye.
What about those two big old air dams on the front of the speedie? Reminds me of the woman busting stuff with her knockers.
Might as well put a Miata in the background, don't you think?

Will that fit on a t-shirt?
Jimbo..not to open a can of worms here, but it seems as the years go by, we have fewer actual speedsters and more roadsters, coupes and spyders...
perhaps the graphic should say "356/550" instead of speedster, that would include all the cars, and then add "SOC" above the Pismo wording in the smaller print similar to "Pismo"....
I'm just saying

All good points wrt my preliminary graphic for SOC Pismo, thanks! I'll be tweeking the pic some more this weekend.
Jim I'm dig in it, but then again I love all tree vehicles depicted on the graphic (of course I'm also loving THAT! spyder ;) ) I like Vince's advice on the title. We sure look forward to seeing you guys again next year. Hopefully we'll invade Pismo with a nice showing of spyders from NorCal. :)

Looks like a fun drive. I hope to meet you in Pismo.
Hey Jen give me a call. I'm thinking we need to open a real registration soon.

That video is an inspiration !
Ricky - Roger that! BTW - I didn't think you'd mind if I used your 550 in the logo and that video is an uber cool travelog!!

Ricky -- personally I should also be cranking on Jim about his logo too: "Where is the 718?" since, after all, the 718 has attendance seniority at the West Coast Meets over the Johnny-come-lately coupes!
Just kidding of course. Besides, next year the only 718 in the immediate galaxy won't be able to make it to the 2011 Meet anyway do to a scheduling conflict -- which may affect other NorCal spyders too. The Sonoma Historics (allegedly replacing the Monterey Historics)are at Infineon the same weekend. As well, I think so is the Parts Haven event which has been an annual "thing" for Bay Area spyders for as long as I know of.
We've had great fun at all of the past five West Coast Meets, Even though we blew-up on the way this year, it made the adventure that much more of an . . . . adventure! We're sad we'll miss the next one.

I agree with Drclock's assessment of the video. I find it interesting that he has the mirror strategically placed so we can catch his grins.

Wow, Jim. I forgot about that dance. Hope you got the Average White Band playing while you're doing your moves...;-)
Got my room booked. Looking forward to seeing you Nuckelheads.

Do the Hustle!
I'm new here but I'll be there! I'm cancelling my Pomona spaces for that weekend.
Dave - good call on making the Pismo gig instead of the one at Pomona!
Thanks Jim, I'm looking forward to it. I have a place, which I don't get to enough, at Pismo, so this is a great reason to go.
FYI -Mark- I am getting the Spyder rainbow wrapped in order to fit the Gay stereotype. You enjoying that blowup doll? :)
Sounds like fun. Suppose we should book a room so we don't have to crash in GERD's room

LOL Chris -- maybe the wrap's not so much a hit in Orange County. Sorry I'll miss seeing it at Pismo.

When I get a few more things sorted in the next month or so (e.g. trip out of country, etc), I'll be able to commit to Pismo. Sure hope so.
Not sure what car I'll take. I think they all want to go - LOL!

The real west coast meet has been held year after year in the same location for over 30 years>>> It does not keep moving South, south towards LA.
AND, the weather is always great!
It is the Sacramento BUGORAMA! Memorial day AND Labor Day week ends. Be there or be square!
