Looking forward to this every year.  Last year was a lot of fun with some new members and a great venue!  For those who missed it last year, the hotel is rather large and has a large courtyard with a pool in the center.  This made for a great gathering place to socialize with other members of the group.  Every time I went down to the courtyard, I found at least one table full of our group if not more.  And, the bbq offered by the hotel with free booze was definitely a plus!

For those of you who want to get a jump on things, here is the info on the hotel and how to book your rooms...

Call (800)767-9407

Quality Suites

1631 Monterey St in San Luis Obispo

I have 20 rooms reserved under the SOC Group for Fri June 6th through Sun June 8th.  We can increase the number if needed, but last year we only used 16 of the 25 I reserved.

The prices have gone up slightly, but we still received a $20 break from the regular rates on the suites.  Rates are $169/night for King Beds and $179/night for double beds.

These rates include the complementary happy hour each night with beer and wine.  They also have a BBQ each night with many items like burgers and tri tip sandwiches for about $5.

Dinner will be a block away at Pappy MacGregors on Saturday night with details to follow.  This year the manager has offered to bring in live music for our enjoyment since we made a good showing at the patio bar/ fire pit each night.

There has been some discussion about possibly adding another day to this event for those who are interested and are able.  Reply on this site if you would be interested in adding another day and whether Thursday or Sunday would be better.  If there's any interest, I will contact the hotel for additional nights and rooms.  I can also work on some events for those who would like to enjoy the extra day as a group.  If not, I can provide some ideas for anyone who wishes to go forth and explore on their own!

Larry and Tom,,,way to go getting a headstart on your reservations!  Definitely looking forward to this year as much as the past ones.

Terry, unfortunately after SLOPD found out that the female officer (Sara) had Public Enemy #1 in her grasp and let him go, they let her go!  She has moved on to Truckee PD in NorCal.  Hopefully Carol can keep him corralled!

If anyone knows some folks who would fit in well with this group, and have a nice car (not just a Speedster) that they like to cruise, recruit them to join us this year.  I'd love to see the group grow from last year!

TRP, most of the right seaters are not necessarily "car" gals, but they seem to blend quite well together, so no need to worry, she will be entertained, I promise.....

A speedster is not required for this event, I don't currently have one either, bring something that you like to drive...I can pretty much guarantee a good time is had by all who attend. At least that's been the general consensus in the past, and this is our tenth year...

Just to bump it up and make it a little easier to find in the thread, here is the hotel information.

Here is something to do on Sunday, if you going to hang around that long.

San Luis Obispo Concours - June 8, 2014

The Porsche Section of the Concours will include a display of historically significant  and special Porsche cars - Doug and Judy Brown will bring their 1987 Porsche 959 and have it on display for all to enjoy. An unrestored all original car with 2000 miles, it is a virtual museum piece. Jim Eckford will have his beautiful silver 2005 Porsche Carrera GT on display as well. Both of these cars represent different but defining points in the history of the Porsche automobile. It is expected that the new Porsche Macan will be on display courtesy of Santa Barbara Porsche. Categories for the cars are as follows: On the main judging field there are two classes: Concours judged and non judged Porsches for pre 1975 cars (P1) and Non Judged Post 1975 Porsches (P2). Adjacent to the Main Field is the Porsche Corral. Cars parked in the Corral will be eligible for a San Luis Obispo Concours Committee Award sponsored by SGS Motor Sport in San Luis Obispo. Porsche owners just wanting to attend for a few hours are welcome to park in the Porsche Corral. Benefiting Hospice of San Luis Obispo County, the San Luis Obispo Concours promises to be a day of elegance showcasing some of the most beautiful and exceptional vehicles in California. This year's event will be held at the historic Madonna Inn Meadows. Please register now at sanluisconcours.com .
