Although I rarely come to the SOC any longer, I am still interested in joining in on the shenanagins of the annual gathering.

That said, seems time flies by so quickly, someone should take the reins and get the plans started.....

I have attended the first 10 "Annual Meets" and look forward to number 11...

Scott, in my opinion, Since you are the local with the knowledge of the area, I defer the location, hotel, restaurant to you, unless someone has an opinion on these things.

Early June seems to be the best weather wise.

You can make it easy by keeping the above, same as last year since the hotel was so good to us and the restaurant is within staggering distance to the hotel.

The Oban of course is a necessity.

I will do the raffle as in past years...

Okay,,,,here's where we're at.  If we want to go back to the old way of staying in a motel setting with the parking lot as our gathering place, I might be able to find something in SLO, but not likely.  Rooms are at a premium that weekend which is probably due to the concourse.

The Quality Suites had very few rooms left for that weekend and the price was over $200/ night.  If we are good with the following weekend (no Concourse), we can get the rooms we need at a price bump of $2 a room ($171/nt).

The Concourse is pretty cool, but the last time our gathering coincided with it only a handful of people actually stayed for the show.  Not to mention that it's on Sunday which is when most folks are headed home.

I've blocked 30 rooms for now at the Quality Suites (25 Kings/5 Doubles) for the weekend of June 5-7.  If you guys want to make another weekend, that's fine, but I don't have any other contacts to help us get a decent number of rooms for a good price on the busy weekend.  By blocking 30 rooms I was hoping to avoid what happened last year with not having enough rooms.  They typically only allow a block of 25 rooms at a time.

Please let me know what you want to do ASAP.  I told Quality Suites I would let her know by this week what we planned to do.

If the consensus is to go the end of May, we're gonna have to do some decision making on what type of hotel/motel venue we want.  If we want to stay with the first weekend in June, I'll start moving forward with finding routes/ lunch and dinner venues, fun Friday events, etc.

PS  Some of us discussed golfing the day before our gathering or the day after (Thurs or Mon).  If anyone is still interested, let me know and I will set that up as well!

I prefer the first weekend of June. I like a good car show but prefer to drive around in my car, with like-minded knuckleheads in their cars, to various vistas in the SLO area. I like staying at the quality suites because they have Firestone dba on tap for free during happy hour which my brother and I consume while hanging out with other like-minded knuckleheads, talking about Ted's adventures with the rabid raccoon and Teby's "intimate moment" with the "hot back in the day" lead singer chick from that band Berlin (?)
But, no golf for me. Dodge ball? Hell yeah.

I've made that ride a couple times for TNT and it is a beautiful ride.  I built my own single-speed last summer and that's the only bike I ride now.  Maybe one weekend we can all meet in Tahoe and make the run in our cars.
