Marty, if you have the time, take Mitch's advice and take the Oregon coast all the way down. Me and a buddy did the coast route from Olympia to Newport Beach, CA back in '74, truly a must do route. Allow plenty of time to stop and take in the view(s). You should not miss this opportunity if you can do it!
You need a lot of time and a lot of patience. Lots of retired RVers with direct deposit and no clock to watch, taking it one mile (25-30mph) at a time...
Terry, driving in second gear does not sound to appealing.
Yup, I did it in '74 when people worked for a living.
There's a way to get that thrill, Marty. Pass 'em! Yep, going down the coast you take your chances on the two lane road and buzz by them, which usually leads to horm honking and middle finger salutations.
It's even more of a thrill on the way back up. The ocean is on your passing side...way down there.
It is a most beautiful experience, however, and worth doing.
Pop a couple valium in your mouth and enjoy the scenery.
In the early 70's, my girl friend and I packed up all the camping gear into the VW bug. Went up the California and Oregon coasts. Breathtaking even for a native Californian. The Oregon state parks were great. Diverted inland on the way back down, to Ashland, OR. to the Shakespeare festival. Camped on the grounds and saw a couple of plays.
Here is the web site that I used... for road trips...http://www.bestroadtripplanner.com/best/index.php?s=2
it has a lot of interesting maps...
Marty, how will you ever be out of 2nd gear with that new TURBO, you'll be breaking the city speed limit in first... I remember my cousin had a 1974 Rebel Machine 394/390 hp, she got stopped by the local mounties, going up hill in first gear doing 40 mph, her excuse ... officer I was still in first gear...
Marty-
Do it.
-The Angel on your Right Shoulder
Just got my newer, larger wheels (needs the center caps yet) on today and took it for a spin through my hood. Maybe Marty needs a guide For the coastal trip.

What kind of Speedster is that??
Kelly, rare, fixed roof, Japanese, mid-engine, water-cooled, aluminum version.
Ah, so, Drewek-san. Wakarimas, domo aragato.
You didn't just call Rich what I think you did? Did you?
If I can pull this off my right seater will be my son. He will be low maintenance and will enjoy the simple things.
What the hell is Kelly saying?
He said "I understand. Thank you."
Marty, when do you expect to be leaving from Vancouver? ....

Marty
Are you saying your son is not like Sandy, or that he is like you?
Better be careful what you put in print...
What the hell is Kelly saying?
I think he just said 'I have a third testicle'.
That might explain Frazoo's fearless driving technique through those round-abouts in his neighborhood!
HEY EVERYONE,,,,DUE TO OTHER ENGAGEMENTS I WILL HAVE TO BACK OUT OF THE EVENT. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT GERD HAS AGREED TO FILL IN FOR ME AS THE PLANNING COORDINATOR!
THANKS GERD!!
BWAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAA! Good one!
Great, now I cant bring my son Anthony.
Bob, Sandy is great to travel with but she gets Veritgo and we would be very far from home. Anthony's is young and has a strong stomach. Plus, we can eat wherever we want, LOL
Jim I think you have been watching "My big fat greek wedding" too much... tré. orchidia...
Eat wherever you want is the operative word, Marty. When is your travel date Marty, if I am before you I'll send you a video of the road ahead.

if Henry can hold my car until late May I may just go fly into Vancouver and drive it to SLO for the West coast event.
I am sure he can hold it for you that long, since it already 50-60 degrees in Vancouver. ... but I thought you were going to have it shipped back so that you could drive it to Carlisle... that would allow you to be the leader of the pack in Carlisle.
Marty- I live about 10 minutes from Intermeccanica; how about I go down, give it a test drive for a weekend and make sure all the bugs are worked out?
WOW ALB, your not kidding I checked out your postal code, you might as well be sitting in Marty's car your address is that close to Henry's How about a couple of spy pictures of Marty's car

I'm booked for the West Coast Cruise. Is there a NorCal convoy I can join on the way down to SLO? Chris
EXCELLENT, Chris! Maybe catch up with the guys coming down from the Sacramento area. However you get to SLO I'm sure you'll have a great time. Looking forward to meeting up with you.
Dale and I will be coming down 680 from Vacaville. We can rendezvous somewhere or you can pick up with Ted perhaps and maybe we all meet up in Gilroy.

Sounds good to me. We are 4 miles off 101, make a left and head up the hill. We can meet in Morgan Hill or Gilroy. Easy peasy!
I wonder which route the Fresno gang will use?
Ted
Depending on when my new IM is finished, we may head down that way this Summer sometime, but I have to be going to a car show. My insurance is ridiculous - I can't take the car on a vacation but I can drive to a car show.
So the agent says, "You can't drive to Florida for vacation. However, you can drive to Florida if there is a car show you are going to". What the H is the difference, except weasel words?
So, should I take a trip south from Vancouver, I will have to time it so I can visit a 'car show'.

We will be showing our cars to each other when we get there. Does that count?

Most likely 41 to 46 to 101
Bob, anywhere a group of us gathers it becomes a car show. I'm sure we can print something up to make it official.
