I lost count, I have been going to Carlisle since the early 90's when I was a member of the NJ Replicar Club. Nor rain, straight line winds ( remember THAT Paul?) hail or frigid weather has stopped me ~

My first was 1991. And I've only missed a couple since. Then around 2000 I started up with the Chrysler weekend too.

Re: Straight line winds.... I forget the year. Had to be early '90's sometme. Carlisle used to have steel garbage cans...not the plastic ones they have around the show field today. The steel cans were blowing around like styrofoam cups. Tents down. Thankfully no damage to any NJRC cars. And I'm pretty sure no real damage around the field either.

Maybe it's me! I was in Yellowstone's Old Faithful Inn in 1988 when they had to close the park because of the massive forest fires. At 7:30 a.m., bell hops came around and said, and I quote, "No need to worry sir. But please be out of the hotel by 10:00." I was in the Bahamas for a hurricane. And was once playing golf at LaTourette on Staten Island while a tornado was reported within a mile or two of the course. Funny. Grounds crew came around and took in all the flags. But they never told us about the tornado reports, nor that we might consider ending our round!

I've missed a few over the years, but I still enjoy every one I attend.  To me, it's the beginning of Summer, and it's always warmer in Carlisle than up where I live.  This year, we'll be heading to the Outer Banks for a week afterward, and that really extends the warm weather.

Ha! See Al and my notes above.
Although the show used to be Mother's Day weekend. weather has actually been better since they pushed it a week or two later.
