Just wonderin' : Is there a chance this might be in the works? Maybe September? Another overnighter?

What say you Terry?
I was talking to @Ryan (formerly) in NorCal about this the other day. No plans this year for a weekend event. Perhaps a 100 mile one day trip if interest is shown. Anything greater will have to be planned by others.
We are interested in another get together...schedule permitting of course.
Interest shown. Count me in! I have September 8th on the calendar. How does that work for all of you?
Here's my recommended route:
(just kidding, this is 500 miles through the Sierras south of Lake Tahoe, but a boy can dream.)

Sept. 8th works for me, Ryan. So much that I've already booked a room at the Southshore's Motel 6. Using my account at Booking.com, I don't pay anything until I arrive AND I can cancel anytime before Sept. 6th! Like I did a couple Tour's D'Hoe ago, I'll enjoy a nice, relaxing, "downhill" trip back to Napa on Sunday.
September 8 works for me. @Ryan (formerly) in NorCal, I welcome your help with this. My thought is that if everyone is comfortable with a one day drive and are responsible for whatever other arrangements they want to make then I am more than happy to continue with the Tour d'Hoe.
@Sacto Mitch, what say you?
I'm going to say that we are in... but hopefully by me saying that I am hoping that mother nature won't try a second round of hail on us (technically a third since it hail twice on the same day )

Hey @Ryan (formerly) in NorCal , if you are down for that 500 mile trek, Vanessa and I are would be willing to recreate it with you. Looks like an awesome time!
Amador/El Dorado Wine Country end up at the Lake. Depending on the crowd We could do a BBQ at my house. Get a caterer and a barkeep or just buy a bunch of beer etc. I have lots of parking.:
Getting a hailstorm of flak from my navigator, Terry, if you follow my, uh, drift.
Besides, I think that's the weekend I promised to help Teby organize his cassette tape collection. He said I could keep all of the Abba tapes if I did.
When did Teby upgrade to cassettes?
Terry Nuckels posted:When did Teby upgrade to cassettes?
He bought a Walkman so he's all into it now.
Teba is a trendsetter. I think he started the comeback for 78RPM records a few years ago. He discovered cassettes when he found out he could make mix tapes of John Phillips Souza and Caruso.
Here is a potential trip for you consideration. The trip would be one day or two whatever you choose. Depart on Saturday from Auburn and drive Hwy 49 to Plymouth. Lunch or boxed lunch in Plymouth. North on Mr. Aukum Rd into the Amador Wine country. Many different wineries to visit. Again this can be set up or wing it. Then Omo Ranch Rd. to Hwy 88. Climb Carson pass to Hwy 89 and into South Lake Tahoe. I can arrange a group rate at several possible hotels or you are on your own. We could go back to Steamers for dinner or I can arrange a catered BBQ at my house depending on the group size. Cost for dinner probably $40 plus adult beverage same as last year. Then folks have Sunday for drive around Lake and return to Valley. Any weekend after Labor Day in Sept will be nice. This route is less prone to Thunderstorms since they form mostly over the NV dessert and drift back over the Lake. I can probably arrange a book on T Storms with one of the Casinos if anyone wants to place a wager.
Your thoughts?
Ryan and Mitch to lead the drive? I have a friend with a vineyard (wholesale grapes only) in Plymouth that can help with Wineries set up.
Terry you get the year off for past service to the group. You will be responsible for getting Tony to come on the drive.
You should put out a shingle "MAJORKAHUNA Travel." This itinerary sounds great - I'm All-In!
Count the little Spyder that could as well 😁
That looks good to me, Noel @majorkahuna. Ryan has some great ideas for the drive. Sounds like Mitch is still frostbitten. I'll help as needed but plan on enjoying myself on the drive.
Tour d'Hoe lives on.
@Rick99GSX ‘s spyder never fails to impress. Saw him at today’s CNC in Marin, CA. Due to the wildfires north of Napa County, the skies and lighting were crazy.
The owner of the red Speedster just bought it last week. He’s been wanting one for 50 years. Told me he was never able to afford one. Said he still can’t, but figured he needed to take the plunge.

Nice picture. Skies cleared up pretty late and lots of ash all over Bay atea
I've been out of the loop for a while. It looks like you all have too.
I'm still itching for a group ride this fall. Is anyone still up for a low key, low overhead drive? I still have September 8-9th blocked off on my calendar.
If you're interested, here's what I have in mind:
- Holiday Inn in Auburn — 8:30 route meeting, 9am start (fueled up!)
- Amador Winery for wine tasting — 10:30am-11:30am
- Kit Carson — 1-2pm Picnic Lunch at Silver Lake
- South Lake Tahoe — 3pm
Adventurous day-trippers could still make it back to Auburn by sunset.
Tahoe overnighters can meet for drinks and dinner. TripAdvisor showed lots of options. I'll follow consensus on where to go.
Day 2 scenic drive back to Auburn:
- South Lake Tahoe — 10am start
- Donner Summit — 11:30am
- Scenic route to Holiday Inn Auburn — 2pm
- Late lunch in Auburn, or wave goodbyes.
Rough draft of a route: https://goo.gl/maps/pkb6eHXPqWr
Even if none of you go, I'll probably take my wife on a similar trip, but it'd be fun to have you all on the road with me. Who's in?

Ryan
Thanks for picking this up. I am in for this. I will talk to Mike as welll.
I am up to my ears in local Politics and have had almost no free time.
I will be happy to set up dinner reservations for the Sat. Night if folks want to do a group dinner. The Lake has been packed all Summer because of the fires elsewhere.
Let me know how I can help.
I'll, indeed, be staying at So. Shore Sat. night (good old Motel 6), and I, too, will go along with the consensus as to dining that night...as long as it's not Col. Sanders. I HATE chicken!
I'm leaving the U S of A next Tuesday morning (the 21st) and won't be returning - maybe/probably - late (really late) Tuesday, Sept. 4th: Sailing a 52' sloop along the Adriatic coastline of Croatia, Montenegro, and Albania for 8 days, and then going inland for some wine tasting in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
That said, I guess I'll wait and see when I return, if everything has come together and the Tour d'Hoe is happening. I can always cancel Motel 6 up until Friday, the 7th.
Thanks again,
Paul Watts
Napa, CA
Ryan, looks like a cool route.
Like Paul, I'll be on a sailboat in September, but not in such pleasant waters. I'll be navigating into and out of a boatyard in the Bay area and don't know yet how the scheduling will work out.
I'm planning on joining you from Auburn to the winery, but will probably need to break off there. Maybe I'll overnight in the vineyard - will need some tips from you on how to pull that off.
Cheers.
I'm tentatively in will be watching the thread
Sounds like there's some interest in a short Tahoe tour this year. I have babysitting arranged, so I'm definitely in.
Overnight: Paul, Noel, Bob, and Ryan & Rachell
Day trip: Mitch

Hello all.... Thank you for keeping me in your group and updated on this event. The drive looks amazing and the 912 would surely be up for it, but I will be in So. Cal. that weekend for a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. I hope to catch up with you all one day. Have a safe drive and take a lot of pics as I really enjoy checking out the event in spirit.

Where we’re going, we don’t need {paved} roads. /s
Will you join us for the trip @Sacto Mitch?
We stayed with the grape farmer across the street from there for our anniversary a few years back. Spectacular views. The shots below are from her vineyard, looking toward the winery we’re visiting. That’s her driveway!
Yes, all tour route roads are paved. Most with limited traffic. The route is pretty simple too. No one should get lost. But I’ll bring printed instructions.

In case you had not noticed Ryan has a very rare Speedster with all wheel drive and a dynamic air suspension that raises his car 8 inches.
Also, the Day 2 Route follows the East shore of Lake Tahoe. Depending on who’s joining me, I’m up for either shore. You can’t lose on this Lake. The distance is the same. And the views can’t be beat either way. I’m open to an audible that day.
🏎💨💨💨 Tour d'Hoe — Sept 8-9. Tag people you want to see there. Here's my list:
@Kevin - Bay Area, @Anthony, @RocklinMike, @RONSTR, @Blake, @Dave Mitchell, @Rick C., @calmotion, @Theron, @IndianBob
See the Official Event Page for Tour d'Hoe 2018 for more information and to RSVP.
DANG! Sorry to have to miss this run! Next time around.
