42-ish ft. of love.
Rolling out after the mail comes tomorrow.
That's awesome Stan
Have a blast, you guys. And be safe. I'm living vicariously through you guys. One of my best buddies lives in Asheville. Done those roads on MC's a bunch of times.
From my little "over the bridge and through the woods" trip to the drive-through DMV today.
I think Stan even washed his car. You know, that is his favorite part of the hobby

I did. BOTH of them.
Good thing I can take the limo through a $3 car wash.
Vicarious: experienced as a result of watching, listening to, or reading about the activities of other people, rather than by doing the activities yourself.
C'est moi...

Yessir.
I'm a little miffed that the flags weren't on for the picture, but I took them off for the $3 car wash. The nice part about bringing the limo is that we'll be able to ferry to the restaurants in style once I drop the trailer. I'm hoping the mailman brings my Cadillac power-chip, but the tracking is not hopeful.
I'm debating how much of the shop to bring, seeing how I pretty much destroyed the top end of the twin-plug engine in 2018 for want of a 7 mm socket, but it seems like no matter how much I pack, it's always something I left behind.
We do have a couple of pounds beef jerky and a 3-lb bag of smokehouse almonds-- you know, in case we get lost in the woods and need to live on something for a month or so. Jeanie's got the coat packed and some super-special hats.
I cannot tell you how much I'm looking forward to this,
... and unforecasted rain just as we are leaving...
Don't worry. I'm bringing cleanup stuff, as you'd expect.
@Stan Galat - That is awesome.
Especially, with the Police Escort.......
And I'm glad to see them all wearing rain gear.
My God, this is a nutty site.
Great Stuff Stan, I am sitting here smiling and chuckling... GO for it.
Mrs, Galant needs to ride in the back of the Limo with a brimmed huge flowered hat ... at a minimum for the Hotel arrival. Truly wish we could be there.

I rode my bicycle with the Police Unity Tour from New Jersey to Washington D.C. to celebrate Police Week in 2011. Each group had a 20 member police escort blocking all of the traffic for us so we didn't have to stop. So yeah, police escorts are cool.

A True Story (Cross My Heart and all that stuff!): In 2012, I sat in on a small Q&A meeting with George W. Bush. I'll always remember one question asked of him: "Mr. President, now that you're a private citizen... is there anything you really miss from when you were in office?" After a couple seconds of thought, his answer was: "Yes, there is. On the way here from the airport, I noticed the driver had to stop and wait at every single light and that's what caused me to be late today. I really miss NEVER having to stop at a red light and just driving straight through. That was cool!"
I'm cutting out early in the morning. Anna's flight arrives at about noon on Friday. We are really looking forward to this. All she has are beach hats, and some Tommy Bahama caps. We'll make do.
Lenny and I are almost to Christiansburg, meeting Chris for dinner. 500 mile day, not too bad.
Tomorrow is about 250 miles. Really excited to see my nutty friends!
@Stan Galat : this year I have tach/dwell/ valve adjustment/timing light/vacuum-fuel-pressure-gauge plus synch tool. Got you, my friend!
I will be playing the part of @MusbJim. I brought my GoPro. So, you may see a video of a cool ride....... Or, my car plummeting off a mountain.
Either way, the viewers win.
I'll be leaving home about 9:30 or so, arriving by 3:00. Reeeeeeeeeeeeally looking forward to a long weekend of cars, curves, and crazies. I need this badly!
One hour out, just crossed into North Carolina.
You guys are really making me feel bad! It was great being there last year and I am really missing being there this year.

Have fun and be safe. We're living vicariously though you guys. Looks like you got great weather.
El President has arrived!
Thanks, Lane.
The rest of us need this...
That license plate frame is priceless!
Having a ball in the Smokies. Real pleasure to get to know everybody. There will be tales told about this little soire' !
The best part of the day is sitting around the fire, throwing back the beverage of the day and enjoying the gossip..... Enjoy it.... It is the essence of The Maddness....
Sorry I had to miss it this year.....

The whole rig! Stan is absolutely The Man.
Be safe out there, my friends.
Today we did Carlos G's Deliverance Run. Fantastic! He planned a spectacular drive on back roads through the area. Much of the run we had little traffic and could really drive spiritedly.
Thanks again Carlos.
Deliverance run? Hear any banjos?
Ok, some trash about PanhandleBob and his lovely wife, Anna. We’ve decided that his handle should change to “Calamity Bob.” Apparently he exploded a gas grill at one point. Anna, on the other hand, saw the picture below (minus her glasses) and said “Oh that’s beautiful!” Yeah, they fit right in.
OH my. I hope that didn't happen today.
No, that happened a few years ago.
Nothing happened today except burning tires, gasoline, and oil.
You left out Lucky Mike’s incident, Danny. After hour of serious technical twisties Mike Warjas pulls into the hotel parking lot and as he is about to put the car in a parking space his he loses all steering control. His crush cage on the steering column shears and the steering wheel is no longer connected to, well, anything important. He should buy a lottery ticket or 10.
Mike was being watched over for sure .... Read This it may save your Life !
I have had two a column crush cages come apart at the upper weld to the solid shaft the first was loading the speedster on a trailer at Carlisle and the second time this was after some extremely spirted driving as I was turning into my driveway. Both ( two different cars) of mine that failed the previous owners unknowingly installed the steering box in the wrong angle applying too much upward force to the column when bolting the column to the 2 x 2 cross member under the dash and over time fractured the column weld.
These columns are ...around 50 years old ! ....Everyone needs to carefully inspect the column or have someone that knows what they are looking for i.e. know what fatigue cracks look like and loosen the two bots holding the column to confirm that their is no forced vertical pressure to the column when secured to the dash ....
How lucky Mike was !
