My CMC sub-frame has a 6mm plate to pick up the forward body mount on the cast rear VW shock tower.
There is no provision to pick up the second body mount on this shock tower.

Any reason, that I should not pick up the second mount. It is easy to do right now as the sub-frame, and chassis are on my bench, and welder is in hand.

not totally sure i understand what you are asking...

Are you saying you want to tie in the stock VW shock tower mount to the CMC sub frame?

i suppose you could, but that doesn't address the weakness, nor does it keep the body on better. If i had the chassis and sub frame on my bench (big ass bench, eh?), I'd triangulate the rear end mount and support the bum of the car.
Built the big ass bench just for this job and really not that big with a 4 x 8 top on a 2 x 2 steel frame

The VW cast shock tower has 2 mounting points to the Beetle body. The CMC uses only the forward of these 2. I don't see why one would not pick up the second mount, but thought that there must be something I am missing

Do any other manufacturers use the second mount or is this a CMC cost cutting measure?

I have already triangulated the rear end, and added triangulated braces from the under dash 2 x 2 to the footwell 2 x 4. Will post some pics when finished in a couple more days
