I actually looked into building a 300 gullwing replica. My grandfather had one when I was a child, when such cars were nothing but used cars... They are very expensive. And the finishing is even more expensive. Try $5000 for the glass and about the same amount for the rubber and sealing/trim bits. Bumpers are $2000... Of course it looks like this one has some of these bits.

Remember the old 6.9 (think it was 6.9) liter mercedes sedans. I know where there is a running driver with significant rust issues. I thought that would make a most elegant donor car for a 300 sl. The 300's were inline six fuel injected, but it would always be hard for me to walk past a german v8!

Wonder what this will sell for. angela
Hey Luke!

I remember seeing one of these "Gull-Wing Replica's" at the car show at Knott's Berry Farm last year. I took a close look at it and it appeared very authentic, and an impressive replica (much like many of the replicas on this site). I believe the turn-key version from the manufacturer was around $65K.

Considering what a "real Gull-Wing" in similar condition sells for, this is a relatively inexpensive 'buy-in' (similar to replica vs. real Speedsters).
