Im askin if anyone out there knows if anyone has done a flat 6 Porsche in a tubular frame speedster. Im considering Intermecannica for the build and a complete engine/drivetrain just fell into my lap. Im concerned about additional weight, cooling etc. 230hp/290lbsft of torque

Howard,
Cooling should not prove to be an issue as long as the engine tin is fabbed properly. The 3.2 is actually one of my favorite 911 motors. The DME is reliable, chippable and compatible with upgrades. The engine runs cool, is not known for head stud problems etc. One of the best IMHO.

290 lbs of torque, are you sure its not 209? That would be an ROW spec 3.2 with US, Canada and Japanese engines rated at 195. Of course, this engine is VERY amendable to upgrades...

Love to see it in a speedstah! angela

Thanks for the input everyone. Im going to move foward with this project. I was thinking a type 4 "raby" build would be the ticket, but the more I speced it out the more expensive it became. My only real concern is the added weight and maintaining the original "look" of the car. The 3.2 is one of the best motors Porsche produced, for all the reasons outlined by my soon to be speedsta brothers and sisters. This build is probably a year away for the next season, but having my drivetrain choices done is huge. Henry and I will speak this week about the change in my plan. Howie
WE've talked about this before...

I talked to Henry when I bought my 911 IM. He said he had a 2.2 L (I think) 911 IM as his personal car at the time (it showed up for sale in Toronto not long ago) and this is what he recommended:

-front mounted oil cooler mandatory;
-Carrera vents on rear deck desirable;
-7 inch wheels with 195 on rear and 5 1/5 in with 185 front to handle increased rear weight.

My car had about 180 lbs of lead bolted into the front. I removed that and I have 7 inch all around with 205 rubber and stiffer, adjustable suspension. Although I have never come close to 100% in corners its adequate for me, my driving style and where I am limited to drive.
