I have alot of experience with electric propulsion in boats. With max speed battery life is about 10 % of what the max slow speed time numbers are. Time running is proportional to speed. Batteries will pull their weight, time wise, until 40% discharged then start to slow down quickly. In a boat you can always make it home but not as fast as you would like. Recharge time and battery weight are the issues you have to deal with. With a car  cruise around town fine, take a trip plan your days accordingly.

So what you are saying that at 65-70mph on the freeway this car might go 50 miles on a charge?

Are range tests have been done with a combonation of city and highway driving. We have yet to do just highway runs. I would assume range would go down some but not as low as 50 miles per charge. Even if your in high gear you still have your foot down drawing energy and wind pushing you back at 65-70 mph.
