I know JPS makes 356 coupe replicas. Do they make a flared fender (widebody) option? Does any other replica company make flared/widebody coupes???

yes JPS does
Thanks Gerd - I need to find one for sale. - Dave
Not sure if this helps, but check this one out.

I would buy a new JPS from any dealer other than JPS. There is a markup from the dealer. You should call John and ask him if he knows of any of his coupes for sale and then ask him to flare the fenders for u
Okay, help me out here Gerd, who is John ? Did I miss something?
Dave
John P. Steele = JPS. I'm just guessing about the 'P'.
He won't tell anyone what his middle name is.
I'll bet it's Percival or Phineas...
I bought mine from South Atlantic Motorsports. Good to deal with; made my experience great.
Speedsters Unlimited in Hawaiian Gardens is where I got my flared Carrera Different from the pic you have but NICE.
If you calculate shipping costs, at last for me it was a wash.
I would have paid a premium to have bought a existing car, the long build time is annoying ...there are just not many/any coupes available...John Engfer is driving, I am pissing and moaning...
Bart:
A few people have bought their cars from the folks in Atlanta and been very pleased with them. The advantage to them is that they seem to thoroughly go through the car to eliminate any safety or "sorting" issues before the customer receives the car, rather than making the customer jump through hoops to get issues sorted in their area after delivery (a frustrating experience at best). Plus, they would be much more "local" to those in the Southeast if you want it serviced later on. This has always been an issue for people who buy a car from a builder that is many, many miles away.
Yes, as Gerd repeatedly points out, dealers like South Atlanta Motorsports charge a bit more (a few thou) for their mark-up, but if they sort the car for you before you get it I think that's money well spent. Arguing with JPS on post delivery problems, at 3,000 miles distant, can be a frustrating experience.
If you look back on this forum you'll see that some of our builders are noted for delivering cars much in need of this "sorting", while others have a much better track record. Do your homework before you buy to avoid all of the angst.
Believe me, I tried to buy a existing car and the only ones I could find were at Atlanta and Beverly Hills in San Diego but I was to late.
At my age, time is more valuable than money, come to think of it, that is probably true at any age.
I have sorted thru component cars in the past and this time I am sending a very skilled VW expert to pick it up, resolve any apparent problems with JPS and drive it the 1200 miles to the Northwest. Hopefully, by the time I drive the car he will have sorted it out.
Bart, I may be in the market for a coupe. Maybe we can compare notes. Where do you live in the Northwest?
Wenatchee Washington...south about 10 miles near Mission Ridge Ski Area
