So I’m still identifying parts in my 356, i have a VW shifter with an e-brake, what belongs on the bolts that seem to be popping up and ripping the leather boot?

use Crazy glue from the inside to fix the hole or a kit to patch vinyl with has basically silicone glue in it and colouring agent

I would still put caps on the adjuster screws no matter what.
This is exactly why I never throw away any piece of hardware or trim left over from furniture, a garage door or anything else that needs assembling around the house. Sometimes I even pick up stuff that I see on the sidewalk and that's not mangled to ****; might not find a use for it at the moment but I will eventually....
